Amazon.com Product Description
Illuminate your work area and keep your hands free for improved precision and safety with the versatile DeWalt DC509 36-volt lithium-ion floodlight. Featuring a unique flex-neck design with a lockable head that allows for custom beam placement, this light is easy to hang when you are working in a precarious spot, but it also offers a sturdy base for when you want to stand the light up. More notably, with the wide-angle beam, your work area filled with more light than a traditional flashlight can provide, and a Xenon bulb ensures that this light is extra bright. Used with one of DeWalt's 36-volt NANO-phosphate lithium-ion batteries, the DC509 benefits from exclusive technology that provides more power and a longer life in a lighter package (battery not included). This flashlight can run up to eight hours on a single charge, so you won't have to worry about it fading in the middle of an important project.

1 out of 5 stars Great Flashlight BUT no replacement bulbs   April 28, 2010

I have used this flashlight constantly for two years. Loved it! However, the bulb burned out and they do not sell replacement bulbs. You cannot get a replacement bulb from the factory itself and the retailers cannot order them. So you end up with a $60.00 piece of junk. If anyone knows where to get a replacement bulb, please let me know. I also know of a couple of retailers who would like to know as well.

Funny- does not seem put out as much light as 18v. Both tested with LI ion battery

4 out of 5 stars good but a bit fragile   December 1, 2007

I don't know if I should be putting this on the web, but I wanted to give everyone the lowdown on this light.

This light does a pretty good job of lighting your work area, but not near as good as corded. It is a bit fragile too and doesn't seem to stand up to tough job-site conditions as well as i thought it would. The main reason I bought it was for the long (supposed 8 hr) battery life. I have yet to keep it on for 8 hours yet, but so far the battery hasn't died on me yet. I have kept it on for a couple hours strait.

One of the things that I am worried about with this guy is the fact that I have heard (possibly rumors) that if you over-discharge the battery, it can be permanently damaged in lithium technology. This is not a problem with the other tools in the DeWalt 36v series because they lose power when its time to charge. The problem lies with this light because it can use a battery all the way to the point of over-discharging. The Bosch litheon light has an auto shutoff feature to prevent this but I have yet to hear about this feature on DeWalts light.

-If anyone knows about this please comment on it!!!

The last and main point I want to make that most probably don't know is this:
I had bought this light online and the first time I used it the thing broke on me. Luckily I have a service center very near my house, so I took it in. The thing they told me was the earlier versions of the lights have a defect in the little hose deal from the body to the actual light. It can easily come disconnected and prevent the light from working. However, they fixed it in later models and sent me a brand new one free of charge
