Amazon.com Review Bosch's Brute Tough line of cordless drill/drivers are designed and built from the inside out to offer the most power and durability possible. At the heart of this drill is a Bosch-built unibody power train that contains the motor, gearbox, and clutch in one contiguous unit for durability and the best alignment possible. The two-speed gearbox has large all-metal gears for strength, and offers a whopping 450 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,300 rpm in high-speed mode. The 14.4-volt motor has built-in overload protection and externally replaceable brushes to help extend its life. The drill also has a steel-reinforced collar to protect it in the event that it's dropped on the chuck. While we don't recommend dropping your tools off one-story buildings, Bosch claims this one can stand the abuse and keep working. The final layer of protection for the drill is its flexible ABS/nylon-blend Duracell housing that protects the insides without cracking or shattering on impact. The drill also features a a strong, reliable grip and a 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck with carbide teeth for one-handed bit changes. This model comes with two batteries, a one-hour charger, a bit holder, a snap hook, and a carrying case. --Brian Trinen

Big Upgrade May 9, 2007 Upgraded from a Black and Decker 18 volt. I have been using it around the house for DIY projects for the past 4 months. Drill did get hot and started to smell as though the motor was burning when trying to drive some 4 in. lag screws. I gave it rest and was able to finish. No problems since then. Good overall power and speed, quick battery recharges. I would recommend the drill to others looking for a cordless with decent torque.
Good Drill April 14, 2007 The drill being reviewed is for 14.4v bosch brute tough with standard ni-cad batteries, NOT BLUECORE. Drilled through 6x6 treated with 1/2" and 1/4" long bits. Durable. Nice case. One battery died just after the 18 month warranty period, other is still working fine. Replacements are $50+. Trigger failed at the same time. Bosch Provantage warranty had it repaired for free within 5 days.

I really like the power of the new drill, however it is a little heavier than my compact Bosch.
