4 out of 5 stars works well like advertised for metal and wood   May 12, 2007

unlike the other reviewer, it works fine. the product is a bit large and there is no off button so if you throw it into the toolbox, it tends to beep. but after researching other stud finders at stores and online, this is the best bang for the buck.

1 out of 5 stars Ineffective stud finder   December 6, 2005

This stud finder is completely useless. I tried finding stud on a drywall. According to it, the stud edges are about 6 inches apart. In fact they are only 1.5 inch apart. The readings varied each time. Luckily I had access to a wall where I could see the studs from one side. I could verify that readings were totally off. I hope that I got a defective unit and it is not a problem with every unit.
