We can't think of anything we'd want to add to this little hummer. It's incredible what B&D has engineered into this system (we don't think it's fair to call it a "screwdriver"). Dual speed range lets you drill holes at high speed and drive screws at the slower speed. A 23-position clutch, just like what's on the big boys, will keep you from stripping your screws. But get this: Unlike conventional cordless screwdrivers and regular power drills, this tool's handle easily locks in three positions for tight areas and awkward spots. Genius! And just like the "real" drills, this one's got an accessible forward/reverse rocker switch for backing screws out, too. Here's something, though, that the big-boy drill makers should pick up: It's got on integrated light so you can always see your work surface clearly. For the money, we haven't seen anything like it. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

1 out of 5 stars junk   June 30, 2008
Thought it looked versatile so I bought one. Bad decision. The batteries are weak and don't hold a charge. Called B&D, they sent me a new one. Same thing, lucky to drive 5 screws. I even bought new nicad batteries and replaced them. Same thing, maybe a design flaw? I'm shopping for a new one now. I'm finding that manufacturers try to save money on batteries and the tools suffer from it. So far, Makita batteries are the only ones I'd recommend.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!!   June 13, 2008
I can't say enough wonderful things about this screw driver. As my first major tool purchase, I thought it looked to goo to be true. It's easy to use, even for a non-handy person as myself. The flash light is cool. The bending aspect makes reach or weird angles hassle free. It stores all it's parts and even has a tape measure!

The battery lasts so incredible long I've only had to charge it once in the past year. (Of course that is user dependent).

The only thing that would make this better is if came in different colors!

5 out of 5 stars Nice little drill !   June 8, 2008
This tool is handy for the obvious reasons. But even more so for the reasons you don't know until you have used it in real world circumstances. I have built a day-home for my bearded dragon using 2x4's , 3 inch and 1 inch drywall screws. This little devil did the job and then some. I have used it in a bathroom renovation, to scab in board between floor joists and to install a storm door. I have heavy duty tools, and quite honestly, the PD600 can stand side by side for small and medium chores. Some balk at the integral battery ( 12.95 replacement at WWW.DEWALTSERVICENET.COM )but the fact is, if you charge it right and use it often, the battery will last for a good while. By good while, I mean several years if treated well. It is what it is, so I challenge anyone to find a better tool for the price and purpose. Compare the specs with small voltage drivers from milwaukee or panasonic, etc.... You will begin to see the utility in this little devil, for a quarter the price of one of the mentioned units. Just don't expect the neat little carry case or the smallish torque of one of those 100.00 jobs from the likes of Panasonic or Milwaukee. If you own a home, get one and use it.....often !!!

5 out of 5 stars Very Good Long Lasting Tool - Read the Instructions   May 29, 2008
I don't really know how long I've owned this tool... at least since 2002. It has worked faithfully within its limitations. It's not a full powered drill/driver. If you try to push it too hard, it will stall. However, within the realm of the average home project, that is EXTREMELY hard to do. I've used it to assemble furniture and install locks, deadbolts, blinds among many other projects over the years. It's worked as a drill, screwdriver, and nut/bolt driver. Just recently, the battery failed to hold a charge. I didn't want a different tool and the new ones look like they don't include the tape measure, so I went on the hunt to figure out if I could change the battery. And despite many reviews to the contrary, I could. The Black and Decker website doesn't make it easy but if you scroll to the bottom and click on manuals or parts, you can access dewaltservicenet which provides information on parts and service for Dewalt, Delta, Porter Cable, and yes Black and Decker. You can order online, but the postage and handling is a killer. Or if you are as fortunate as I am, you can make a quick trip to your local service center and pick up a new battery. The new battery went in a lot easier than the old one came out, but I am now back up and running with my PD600. Don't hesitate to buy this tool. Be sure to read the instructions concerning charging the battery. They instruct you to unplug the charger before removing the cord from the tool, not operating the tool while it's plugged in, and other little tidbits that may have helped some other reviewers have as long and successful experience with their tool as I have had and continue to have with mine.

1 out of 5 stars Powerless   May 17, 2008
I should've known that 6 volts was too little, but I had no idea how powerless this cordless screwdriver is. Can't even drill a screw into the wall (plain old drywall) with it--it was easier to do it by hand!
