Amazon.com Product Review We're huge fans of reconditioned tools, because it's a chance to get great quality at a bargain price, and this drill/driver is a perfect example. It works like this: After some initial problem, the tool gets a total rework at the factory and it's sent out again good as new, but at a fraction of the original sticker. In this case, a homeowner or do-it-yourselfer can get a great deal on a nice little drill/driver that has plenty of power for light to medium jobs (building a deck? This isn't the tool for that.) It's perfect for everyday use in a home workshop, for things like drilling pilot holes, driving screws, craft work, woodworking, home maintenance, assembling furniture and a host of other jobs. We like this Skil because it's lightweight, responsive, comfortable to grip and even has variable speed and reverse along with a keyless chuck. The battery slides on and off easily, even in smaller hands, but the charger isn't fast - it takes about three hours for a full recharge. It's got surprising torque for a drill/driver this size, more than enough for the average household job. And reconditioned, it's good as new for a fraction of the price.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste What's in the Box 14.4-volt cordless drill/driver, battery, charger, bit size indicator, carrying case

a good value May 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, this is a satisfying tool to use for the small jobs and it is a good value. The ergonomics are good: it is well balanced; the grip is comfortable; and the torque, with variable speed settings, is reliable.
The lock release for the battery is not real smooth however; it takes a real squeeze to get it off for a charge. The charge might last 10 minutes of continuous usage; the refresh rate on the charger is around 2 hours.
Still, I am quite satisfied with this tool; it has given me 2 years of reliable service so far and is still stepping up to the plate.

Drill is OK but the changer and battery did not work. May 19, 2007 I bought this drill because already had a similar one and thought I'd get two and share batteries. From day 1 the battery charger that came with the drill did not work. I ended up using the battery from my old drill. Then a few days later the new battery stopped taking a charge. I have emailed Skilshop numerous times in the past month. I also emailed Amazon about this problem but I have not seen a response.
Good value / good Skil quality January 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very pleased with the quality, condition, and price. It even included a hard shell case! For the price, I don't think you could find anything comparable. I am no drill expert, but this Skil drill has a solid balanced feel to it and works quite well. Although this was labeled Skil reconditioned, it looked like it was factory new.
