| Customer Reviews:
Silky smooth and unbelievable torque September 7, 2008 Went into my local professional tool supplier with the full intent of buying a DeWalt 18V lithium ion drill/driver combo. After trying it out, the sale rep suggested I should try out the Panasonic which he felt had a smoother trigger. It was also the one he personally owned. He was right...there was no comparison. From the slowest to fastest speeds, the control was exceptionally smooth. Both the drill and the driver are lighter than the DeWalt, and the power and torque ratings are essentially the same even at 14.4V.
Using the drill with a 2" hole saw going through 3/4" oak plywood, I had the clutch fully off...and made the mistake of not holding the drill really tight...almost pulled it clean out of my hand at one point. Lesson learned.
The only knock I've heard about these tools is they're fairly brittle if dropped. So, I'll be careful.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not biased against DeWalt. I own and love a number of DeWalt tools, and will continue to be a fan. It's just in this case, I think I bought better. I'm absolutely delighted with these tools...only wish there were more Panasonic tools that worked with the 14.4V batteries.
