Product Description For smoother, quieter cuts, a single FORREST Dampener-Stiffener is highly recommended for all applications. Made from top-quality saw steel and precision ground to within 0.001" of side runout. For best results, select one stiffener 1/2 to 2/3 the blade diameter and mount it against the outside of the blade.

Good investmen, but forrest needs to ship the non-rusty product August 15, 2008 I bought forrest stif05 & Forrest WW10407100 Woodworker II 10-Inch 40 Tooth ATB .100 Kerf Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor at Amazon.
I try the blade w/o dampener and stiffener then w/ it. I see a improvement on hardwood when ripping.
The only thing I don't like. I receive the product in rusty condition.
I can't recognize the Forrest print on the dampener. I may send email to Forrest to ask why. Maybe Forrest may not know what's going on after package the dampener and put it in storage. On the woodworker II blade, The joint carbide tip and the blade has similar condition, but it was ship with protect vinyl around the edge.
might be useful for some people August 9, 2008 This didn't really do anything for me. Of course, my old makita table saw was totally stable before I put it on. It just didn't add anything. Maybe if you had some kind of problems with your blade wobbling, you might appreciate this.
See no benefit June 18, 2008 I see no benefit whatever. It does reduce the depth of cut from whatever your saw allows (3"+) to 2.5 inches. For cutting hardwood with minimal burning, Forrest recommends setting the blade as high as possible. The stiffener limits it to 2.5" cut.
Just a stiffener September 22, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
standard stiffener, less vibration but with the quality of the new saws and blades I dont know how neccesary a stiffener is anymore. Dont forget you loose some blade height with this on...
This is a good idea for a underpowered saw with thin kerf blades.
Question how much it helps October 1, 2005 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
It seems to be well made and ground to a fine finish but I can not see much improvement on my table saw. It seems to help more on my 12" chop saw and might help more if used with a thin kerf blade. I will continue to use it but cannot say for sure if it helps.
