5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Saw   January 3, 2008
I am a hobbyist woodworker and have had this saw for about 3 years now...It has performed flawlessly...simple. Very little alignment was necessary when I received it. I have mine wired for 110 and at 2 HP it is all the power I will ever need. I have cut inch wide dados in solid wallnut and the motor doesn't even come close to stressing....My only gripes are pretty minimal...the motor cover should be included, and the star headed bolt to fasten it closed is pretty cheap...also, it took a day to get off all that protective grease coating it's shipped with.

I also have a grizzly 14" bandsaw....a fabulous tool ! I highly recommend Grizzly products, especially if you're a hobbyist like myself.

4 out of 5 stars Grizzly Table Saw G1023S   June 2, 2007

I am a small business woodworker, specializing in custom furniture and hardwood cabinets. I have been a using a table saw for 25 years. At first I only bought and used 1-1/2 HP saws, but for bigger projects I needed a more powerful saw, and more stability on the table top, with a bigger fence extension. Little did I know that Grizzly had all those features at a very reasonable price. The saw came in on a pallet wrapped in cardboard w/o any dings or damage. Grizzly said to check for any charge on the lift gate on the truck, and there was supposed to be a $35 charge, but I was not charged for this service and the truck driver was very nice. After I unwrapped it, I had to degrease the table top and extension top. I used the product called Goo Goo Gone and it worked great & fast. Assembly took a couple of hours and the instructions from Grizzly were good. Then I had to attach my Biesemeyer fence, but unfortunately, I did not have the original instructions for that part. So we called Biesemeyer and they helped with technical assistance over the phone and we were able to download a hardcopy of the instructions. I had to make a few adjustments between the fence and the saw, but it didn't take long before it was attached.

I am so glad I ordered this saw. It is easy to operate and to adjust with the bevel and rise wheels, which are all solid metal. The wheels give you counter balance to raise the saw and set an angle. It is a joy!
The Biesemeyer fenced lined up on zero so anytime I move the fence, it is true. It also has plenty of power to cut thru the hardest wood. There is a lot less strain when I set up and make the bevel cuts and it has made the large kitchen cabinet jobt that I am currently working on much much easier.

The Grizzly made my day and I'm on the way to bigger cabinet jobs!

3 out of 5 stars Grizzly Customer Service   September 8, 2006

I'll be continuing this review; however for now all I can comment on is the way Grizzly's Customer Service has responded to my order.
The table was ordered on Friday and arrived at my home on Wednesday; before the UPS driver unloaded he wanted me to take a look at the damage. Clearly someone had dropped the table saw, because the entire pallet was smashed and the bottom and sides were all smashed in. Without hesitation I refused delivery and the driver (a very nice man) took off and I waved goodbye to what was meant to be a beautiful beginning. I called Grizzly first thing Thursday morning and without the slightest hesitation after only one day wait, I received a phone call the following day (Friday) letting me know that my new saw would arrive within the next three to five days. My partner was annoyed that I had refused delivery telling me horror stories from other companies, however GRIZZLY is not another company... I will keep you informed on how the rest of my adventure pans out...

4 out of 5 stars Shipping is a ... less than pleasant experience   February 7, 2006

Received mine and have been setting it up for a while now.

Electrics -
Ran 220V from the dryer outlet, probably violating code. Don't try this yourself unless you understand what single phase means. The unit comes with bare wires ready to be hard-wired. Was unable to find a 220V extension cord, so made one myself. 20 amp wire and NEMA connectors.

Breakage in Transit -
The unit had tipped over in shipment. I noticed a ding in the fan cover. Actually, I noticed a loud racket when I tried turning the blade by hand. The fan was rubbing the shroud. A little work with a hammer and pliers fixed that. But I didn't know that there was a related problem until I tried to set the blade to 90 degrees. Stuck my head inside to see what the problem was and found ... a three once chunk of cast iron that had snapped off the flange that holds one of the main trunnion shafts. This was the point that gave out when the whole unit fell on the motor. Thank goodness I hadn't turned it on yet. The blade had a good chance of rotating into the table when I tilted it.

Cleaning -
Removing the preservative is actually easy, once you find the right solvent. Instructions call for a degreaser or citrus based cleanser. I had a "Clean Off" between a degreaser, an orange-based cleanser and Goof Off. the first two didn't even make a dent. Goof Off removed it very effectively, but have a lot of ventilation if you use it.

Support -
Grizzly is sending me a new flange and says I will have no problem replacing the broken piece. Very good interaction with them. I was worried I would have to ship the whole unit back. Getting it into the basement almost gave me a hernia.

Will update this after I get to actually cut wood.

5 out of 5 stars Grizzly Quality/Value   January 13, 2006

I'm not sure how you could find a better saw for the money than this. Sure, the cardboard box and flimsy pallet needs improvement, but the company/freight line will stand by any issues....at least they did in my case...had some damage to one of the extension wings...Grizzly took right care of it.

The saw set up perfectly right out of the box. Blade parallel to miter slots. Straight up 90 and perfect 45 stops were right on. Extension wings bolted on and were flat on first try. Fit and finish were very nice on the cabinet. Holy Mackerel this sucker is POWERFUL. If you are a home hobbiest, this is all the saw you will ever need and it seriously overlaps into the professional saw space as well. Loved the Shop Fox fence. Miter gauge is pretty standard.

Well done Grizzly....just protect your fine product a bit better in shipment.....
