Amazon.com Product Description
Add two dependable, efficient tools to your arsenal at the same time with this heavy-duty combo kit. With a maximum output of 480 unit watts, DeWalt's DC925 XRP 18-volt cordless hammerdrill is a powerful choice for completing drilling and fastening jobs quickly and efficiently. This drill offers the convenience of a heavy-duty 1/2-inch self-tightening chuck that ensures more than enough bit-gripping torque for precision performance, even when drilling through tough materials. The DC390 XRP 18-volt circular saw delivers plenty of precision and power for a wide variety of construction tasks. It can even handle cutting a two-by-four at a 45-degree angle in a single pass, making it a great pick when you have lots of joints to build. The durable, 6-1/2-inch carbide tipped blade included in this kit cuts smoothly and quickly, and the included rip fence keeps material from shifting as it is cut for excellent precision.

Each of these tools is well-balanced with a comfortable grip for improved control, and they are each powered by an extended-run 18-volt battery that uses trademarked DeWalt technology to help you get more work done with each charge. Also included with this kit is a convenient one-hour charger, a 360-degree side handle for the hammerdrill, and a durable carrying case. These DeWalt high-performance industrial tools are backed by a 3-year limited warranty.

5 out of 5 stars the best combo kit   April 2, 2008
I just purchased this combo kit for my boyfriend who just got his certificates for different areas in construction. I hear these to tools are the most used. I tried all the Home Depots in Queens and Long Island, NY, but they were all sold out. That's how fast they went. That's how high the demand is for this tool kit. I've scoped all the other brands on line and in hardware stores (I'm a serious shopper, hehe!), and nothing compared to this combo. When I bought it, he loved it! The drill is quite heavy with serious torque as a previous reviewer mentionned. Hammer drills are better than buying a regular drill because you can use it for more than just drilling screws. The only thing he didn't like about the circular saw is that it only is 6.5 inches. He would have preferred at least 7.5, but he likes it just the same. I'm just putting it out there for those who know more about construction than me. That was his only complaint. Otherwise these tools are great, they are heavy duty professional tools and they are well protected in a heavy duty case. Out of all the kit, I think this is the best one for the price. The other kits have too many other items that may not be used as much as these two tools, but I guess that depends on the type of work you do. You better grab this combo while it's still on the market, because I was very disappointed when no home depots had it and the people who worked there said that they sold very fast. Amazon still has a few left so if I were a serious carpenter I would grab one while I had the chance. It's worth the money and I'm so happy I got it for him!

5 out of 5 stars DeWalt Drill/Saw Combo w/case   October 4, 2007

I don't need to say much. If you've looked at other products with similar products, you'll see DeWalt is consistantly rated highly. My wife bought me a Firestorm some time ago when we bought a new home. The Firestorm served it's purpose yet nevr had the kind of power this drill has. I installed Car Siding with this baby and I never changed the battery! Torque, it's got it! The saw has been used for smaller projects and without hesitation, I can say it delivers. The combo kit I bought came with two batteries as well as a very sturdy case. Way to go DeWalt!

4 out of 5 stars Very solid and powerful combo   September 10, 2007

I got this combo pack (Dewalt DC2PAKSA) for fathers day and have been very pleased with the quality and performance of both tools.

As a homeowner with a perpetual queue of small and medium sized projects, I often end up putting some of them off because of the hassle dealing with multiple tools and the associated power cords. This is especially true for outdoor projects when I have to run a long extension cord. As a result, I used to loathe most of the work just for this reason.

The convenience of cordless power tools is alluring, but most people hate to pay 6 to 7 times the cost of corded tools unless there is a very good reason, and the prospect of weak tools or short-lived batteries is cause for caution. Having used both tools on a handful of projects, I can say the extra cost has been very much worth it to me.

The ergonomics of both tools is very good. The controls, knobs, handles, and grips are all in logical places, and the fit is very good even for smallish hands such as mine. Even when operating the drill single-handed in low gear, the torque is manageable because it is so well balanced. The circular saw is as well, since your wrist is at a comfortable angle with respect to the work being cut.

For power and battery longevity, I am very satisfied. For one outdoor project, the drill petered out after about 2 hours, so I swapped in the other battery pack, put the dead one on the charger, and resumed work. The charging battery quickly got recharged within about 20 minutes, and I lost no time. Also, regarding the circular saw, I was concerned that it would not have enough power, but after cutting the ends off about 30 2x4's, I was no longer concerned about power or battery life with the saw.

The only gripe I have is the weight of the drill: it is quite heavy, especially when using it single-handed or above shoulder height. This might not be much of a factor for burly guys, but I have a body build for band, so it's a lesson in endurance for me.

So in conclusion, if you're looking for a quality set of powerful and solid tools, I suggest this combo. These are probably the 2 most commonly-used power tools for most homeowners, so buying the set is logical. I am certain most people will enjoy the freedom and efficiency of not being tethered to a cord.
