A great value! July 14, 2008 What a great value!
Drill - powerful but light Impact Wrench - Stands up to STEADY HEAVY use! Charger - 15 min charge - great for impatient people! Radio - WOW! It sounds great (lots of base) and operates more than the 8 hrs advertised! Light - Very bright - haven't used it much yet.
Worth every penny! May 23, 2008 I needed a new portable drill. I wasn't sure about the radio. However, I took a chance on this package. Everything works great. The radio is fantastic. The drills both have more power and torque than I expected. The batteries are so light, you do not even know they are there. I would suggest that you buy an extra 2-pack of batteries- if you do not already have them. You may want to use all of these tools, at the same time. By the way- I had a minor problem with my shipment. Amazon.com made it right-fast. Their customer service continues to impress me!
great combo March 25, 2008 With the balance , power , lightweight, 15 min recharge and new lithium 2.8x life I think this is a great purchase. I have other Makita drills and while their nicads batteries are superior to Ryobi's,(whatisn't?:) this new lithium technology seems just the ticket.Long shelf life and 280% longevity. Even the radio is fantastic though you still need the charger. After deliberating ,I chose the 1.5 battery especially for light weight portability over the 3.0. I figure I can allways buy another battery if I need extended service and the 15 min recycle vs 1/2 hour being another strength for me . Try them , you'll love 'em.
Cannot Go Wrong March 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I picked this set up to replace my 9.6V Makita and 12 Volt Milwaukee. My 9.6V have lasted over a decade, still have older batteries that take charges. My Milwaukee the batteries lasted just about 2 years. I needed more power as I have a big project coming up in building a deck. I had read many magazine and online reviews and had it narrowed down to this set and a Rigid Lithium ion. One concern I had about the rigid was the fact that there seemed to be a problem with their batteries and people were having trouble with the "Lifetime warranty on them". The other item I did not like is that the balance on the rigid especially with the larger battery was awkward to me. When I tried the Makita it feels much better. So I did some testing with it, the Drill is powerful enough to run a 1" drum sander with no slowing down or clutch stall. I used it to drill 1/2" holes in Maple, No Issue, my 9.6 clutch would have stalled several times. I have driven multiple screws no problem. I ended up getting the LCT400W, the radio sounds awesome, I was surprised with the sound on it, has MP3/Aux input, DC. It does run on other batteries, which probably makes more sense that using a LI on it. I have not tried the Impact driver but will do so when I start fastening deck boards. Overall it is pricey, wish it had 3 batteries, but the quick charger does a great job, in 15 minutes they are charged.
Cool combo! February 28, 2008 I have been a Makita fan for a long time. This latest lithium-ion combo makes cordless drilling, driving, lighting and radio a pleasure!
