Product Description This superb grinder is an absolute MUST for any shop ? metal or woodworking. Large 10" x 2" white stone turns at 70 RPM and runs in a water bath. Simply indispensable for sharpening knives, chisels, etc., while still keeping temper on the edges. The smaller stone is 4 1/2" x 3/4" and spins at 3450 RPM This stone is excellent for general purpose grinding of drill bits, lathe tool bits, etc. Motor is 1/4 HP, 110V. Quick-setting tool rest on large stone is easy and fast to adjust to proper angles. The smaller, fast stone comes with eyeshield and tool rest. Worm gear drive mechanism operates both stones at the same time. Weighs only 32 lbs.

I Just want sharp tools February 5, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I read the reviews on the Grizzly slow speed grinder and decided to purchase it with the deluxe tool rest. When I put the tool rest that came with it on the machine it was not square with the large grinding wheel. After a closer look I found that the base was 1/8" difference in heigth from one side to the other and the tool rest was 1/16" difference from one side to the other. The deluxe tool rest had a problem in that if you turned the guide around it would hang up so bad that it wouldn't slide. I called Grizzly and the sent me a new base and one side of the tool rest and a new deluxe tool rest. After about 2 hours of changing the base and different parts of the deluxe tool rests around I was able to get it square with the grinding wheel. But the problem with the guide on the deluxe tool rest is still there. I'm calling Grizzly again and see if I can get a refund and save up for the Tomac.

I read reviews on this product before I purchased it. Those reviews said to buy the better tool guide (it comes with a plastic tool guide). The cast aluminum guide is not of good quality and the tool guide would not fit or slide within the tool guide table that mounts to the grinder. I had to file the table guide to even use it. It works, but you do get what you pay for. I paid an average cost and got an average performing slow speed grinder.
Great for Price April 22, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
After looking at sharpeners for a long time, I decided that most of the flat sharpeners looked complicated to set up for different types of blades. It sounds like from reading the reviews that the Tormak is the best of the sharpeners that produce a hollow grind but the expense is just too much for the amount of use I expect to get out of it. The Grizzly seemed like a good alternative. Like the other reviewer, if you are going to use it for any thing other than sharpening chisels I would suggest getting the heavy-duty tool rest. It is well worth the money. Now I can spend a minute or so on the Grizzly and another on the oilstone for a finial sharpening. I save my self tons of time sharpening plane and chisel blades and I don't have to worry about changing the angle of my cutting head.
Good Grinder March 27, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I decided to go with a slow speed grinder after using my neigbor's Tormek. This one is good and gets a nice edge on tools. I do think the Tormek is better. I just shyed away because the Tormek is more than twice the price. I also got the heavy duty tool rest (another $15 and you have to go to the Grizzly site to order), which I highly recommend getting. The tool rest that comes with it is not that great and fustrating to use.
