Poor service October 17, 2008 The item was just what I ordered.. That was not the problem, the problem was the service. Many e-mail sent with no responce. Sellers e-mail address changed/he didn't use that one anymore. Ended up doing a A-to-z Guarantee claim with Amazon. (and they responed quickly).. Then the item came in that night.
"Nano" technology June 18, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The most annoying problem with the NiCad batteries is their inability to hold their charge over an extended period of time. The "Nano" battery does not seem to have that problem. Although quite expensive, it is worth the xtra expense to be able to use the tool after a couple weeks of "down time' with out having to recharge.
DeWalt Product Excellence May 29, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have two of these batteries and a charger that were purchased to replace older XRP's. They work wonderfully and I would never consider the older NiCad battery technology again. The pack is slightly smaller than the fitting on my DeWalt tools but the smaller size results in less weight. The batteries outlast XRP's power, cut charge frequency and increase battery life. This is the best investment I could have made to extend the usefulness of my 18 volt cordless tools. Thanks for another great product DeWalt!
Disappointing move by Dewalt! May 8, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is less of a review and more of a gripe: This Lithium battery, however dependable and improved it might be is a foul by Dewalt. Not because of "the way it looks" like others have mentioned, but because it's a statement Dewalt is making, that they don't care about the MILLIONS of customers that are invested heavily in their 18V line up. They made the battery so it "would" work with their current 18V tools but with a marketing plan that would lead consumers to buy new tools that the batteries are actually designed for, and make them huge profits. It's a battery in a casing; it would have cost Dewalt virtually nothing to design (mold) the battery case to fit the current tool line up and the battery would be smaller and lighter. Dewalt is counting on their reputation to keep customers dedicated to their tools and they will. I will continue to invest in Dewalt, but I have also purchased several NiCad batteries because I don't believe the lithium batteries are worth the price tag (6 NiCad's for the price of 2 Lithium batteries). I don't for a second believe that the money I've spent over the years on Dewalt 18v tools has any influence in Dewalt's marketing scheme (they depend on government/military contracts and major corporations), but it would be a pleasant surprise if they redesigned the lithium battery (even a second lithium battery) to fit the 18v tools they've been making for years. Too late I know, but disappointing just the same!
To little too late dewalt! April 18, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I always used to be a user of dewalt tools until i got the makita LXT range of tools which blew the dewalts away in every way. I have been using a freinds new nano dewalt tools and have to say that they are no better in performance than before. Work time is almost identical as they have still choose to use 2.4AH cells? this was a mistake as 3AH cells have been about now for well over 2 years. The batt and charger is also very expensive for what it offers. They needed this spec 2 years ago and in my eyes have just made my makita LXT seem even more of a bargain than they already are.
