4 out of 5 stars Better than expected   January 4, 2008
Not sure what all the other reviews are talking about - I ordered this, hestitatingly, and was pleasantly surprised. The shipping box and components arrived undamaged, and in only about 4-5 days from placing the order.

The assembly instructions were a bit confusing, but it only took me about 45 minutes to set it up. It works great. The one complaint I'd have is that the fence rests on top of the infeed table in a rather precarious way (assuming I have it set up properly). It can tilt side to side, unless tightened down well, which may put it out of square.

Anyway, I've run a couple dozen boards through it so far and it's done a great job. Go for it.

After 8 months using this jointer, I can say that there is a review here which is spot on.
1.Bench top jointer occupies more space than stationary 6" jointer.
2.No more that 4-foot long board could be accurately jointed
3.Loud, no. Very loud. God bless my neighbors
4.Outfeed table cannot be adjusted at all
5.Infeed table and fence do not hold setting. Well they may hold when tiny boards are jointed.
All in all, expensive mistake!

4 out of 5 stars Used a wheel barrel to get it to my workshop.   March 9, 2007

Nice heavy unit that does not move around and need not be bolted.
Does not receive five stars because it takes a brain surgeon to square the fence to the table. I know there will be the usual reation to this,
(will I didn't have any problems), but blow me down and run me over if you think it was easy. Other than that I am very pleased!!

Twice, I never got to use this tool because they came severely damaged from shipment. The inside packaging is so weak the heavy tool is easily broken.

5 out of 5 stars Great tool   January 28, 2007

Just received this tool a week ago. Mine came in great shape, nothing missing or broken. Not a scratch on it. The packaging was shredded. The box was fine but the styrofoam was in little pieces. An item this heavy should have a wooden shipping base not styrofoam.

In operation, I couldn't be happier. The machine locks up tight. Nothing slips. Had to tweak the fence to get 90 degrees set the first time but that was very easy and explained well in the manual. Also checked to see if the knives were in tight, which they were. It's fairly quiet and has great dust collection. Best of all, very little vibration and excellent results.

If you're looking for something you can take off and put back on a bench, look elsewhere. This bad boy is over 100 lbs and not a lot of laughs moving around.

I'm happy enough with this machine, I'm looking at the Palmgren 15" lathe.
