Amazon.com Product Description The Freud 3-1/4 HP Electronic Variable Speed Plunge Router can serve as a handheld router, or, when mounted under a table, it can take the place of a more expensive spindle shaper. The powerful 3-1/4 HP 15 Amp motor with electronic speed control provides a soft-start feature that lets you choose how fast you want to go--from 8,000-to-22,000 RPM. It also maintains a constant torque and RPM. The included micro-adjustable depth control makes accurate vertical settings quick and easy. Other features include a sliding shaft lock, a convenient plunge lock, a quick-release depth stop, a 1/2-inch collet with a 1/4-inch collet reducer, and a four-position depth-stop turret. The unit comes with a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty.
Product Description The Freud FT2000E Variable Speed Plunge Router is the tool of your dreams! This router is completely new and comes with Freud's strong Warranty (not that you'd need it)!

Does everything I ask it to do September 4, 2006 I've owned this tool for about 3+ years now. I bought it because of the price and it's reputation. I've used this router to make dados in cabinets pieces, plunge cut shelf pin holes, trim countertop edging. It's repeatable and stable with plenty of power. My only complaint is that the bits get stuck, but what router or shaper doesn't have that problem. Highly recommended. Great value July 5, 2006 Very strong runner, excellent features. Can't imagine getting more for the price than this.

This router has incredible power and smooth operation. All the features work as they should, and it looks, sounds, and feels right to me. The VS and softstart are terrific features. My only complaint is that the throat is too small for 3" bits to pass through. You need to use a router table fence to accommodate this flaw, but otherwise, this thing's a trooper and a bargain.
Best in Class December 4, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have an almost exactly opposite experience with Freud as that mentioned in the above review. I am on my second FT2000 and have always received great customer service the few times I needed service. I just sent it to Freud USA and they fixed it within a week, only charging me once for a repair. It's a great router: quiet and powerful with easy to reach controls. As a professional woodworker, I recommend it without reservation.
made in Spain......customer service????? October 16, 2005 9 out of 17 found this review helpful
I bought this router new from a local retailer for about 2x what amazon is now selling it for. When I first used it the router was great, couldnt be happier. About 6 months of owning it I opened up the case and plugged it in....nothing....checked all the power, the switch etc.. and nothing... I called the service center to find out how to either fix it or have them repair it for me. The repair was to send it about 800 miles away at my cost, wait for 6-8 weeks as they repair it then pay for them to send it back to me. So here I am with a large paper weight...But hey...it looks cool on my workbench!? ok...not really 1 star for being a great router to start with, only one star due to poor customer no-service
