Piece of crap December 7, 2005 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
I am a hardwood contractor. The first couple weeks this unit ran fine. After that I've only had problems with it. First off, this unit needs a large power supply to run (more than 15 amps which you can only get a certain outlets), otherwise it will just cut off. I've had the unit for over 5 months struggling with it hoping it would get better. Today at the jobsite it just stop charging after a 1/4 way filled. It was cold today and tried to heat up the motor with a heat gun which also didnt work. I tried warming the unit up by opening the valve but that didn't work. It wasn't the power supply because I had it connected to a 25 amp + outlet from the kitchen. After toying with it from frustration I ripped out the reset button and bypassed it by connecting the circuits together. Did it solve the problem? Yes but I wouldnt use this after this week from fear of the unexpected. This compressor is heavy, requires too much power, is loud, double or triple your work time from having to drain the tank and restarting it over and over and over again, and just is not reliable. Hitachi needs to fix the problem with the load it requires and fix the reset button that I find I have to hit every time it charges back up. Very frustrated with this product. Their air tools are a different class. Highly recommended. Stick with them and leave the compressors to other manufacturers. Faked me out.
Could do better November 28, 2005 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
I have to update my previous review, which I gave the compressor 1 star. I would now give it 3 stars. I gave it one star because I was having trouble with the regulator at the time. But I had let a friend borrow it, and he turned the pressure up so high it broke something in the regulator. I have since put a new one on, and it has been working fine. The price is pretty good, but if you need serious performance out of a compressor, I would recommend something else. I, for example, am a framer, and it can keep up with me, but no way can it keep up with two guys like it claims. The DeWalt D55155 seems to do pretty good, or we also have a Senco that keeps up pretty good too. But it is a decent little compressor.
broke down after 3-month October 28, 2005 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am a contractor. My Hitachi air compressor broke down after 3 month. Hitachi support team could not direct me to the right repair shop address the issue. It looks like to pay from my own pocket to fix it even though it is still under warrantty. Don't buy this.

Heavier than it looks, but with these machines They need to be for power. Not a toy, not very mobile. Perfect for workshop or in truck. Great for the $!
