Amazon.com Product Description
This model has more capacity and more weight than its little brother--Delta's DP115 8-inch benchtop drill press--but you're still not talking about a lot of shop space or a lot of money. We like this drill press because it can drill to the center of a 10-inch-wide board with a 2-1/4-inch stroke, its table tilts left and right to 45 degrees with a positive stop at 0, and it offers five drill speeds depending on your material and bit size. You don't even have to know what speed is the right one--there's a chart inside the pulley cover that dictates belt speed according to hole size and material. Changing speeds is as simple as adjusting the belt on the pulley. Have some repetitive drilling to do? The adjustable-position locking depth stop takes the trouble out of the job. We like the Shopmaster drill presses for their Delta precision and tight prices, but we have to admit that the rack-and-pinion table height adjustment and the built-in gooseneck lamp on this model win our hearts. The three-jaw chuck will accept bits up to 1/2 inch, and when you're done drilling, just pop out the removable safety switch to prevent unauthorized use. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

5 out of 5 stars Great for what it does..   April 13, 2008
Great price, quick delivery. I hadn't had much pressing to do with it, but what I was able to do, it did it great with the precision I needed. Highly recommended if you need to drill a lot of holes with accuracy and day to day precision.

2 out of 5 stars Motor burnt out   October 23, 2006
After 2 years of light and I mean extremely light usage, the motor burnt out right after the warranty expired. It was an ok press while it lasted but don't expect much from it and don't be surprised that it doesn't last.

5 out of 5 stars Very happy with the bench press   August 24, 2006

A number of good features as follows: Easy to assemble, easy table adjustment, good drill depth adjustment, quiet running, tilt table adjustment. Work light is handy to have, however, seems to be a little loose.

amazon has been helpful. that's about all i can say about this item.

i received it and the case was cracked in transport. amazon and i settled that and then less than 3 weeks after receiving the drill press it broke. the tension spring snapped while i was drilling 2 inch deep holes into Douglas Fir. So now i'm returning it for, hopefully, a full refund.

otherwise, the delta was easy to set up and seemed sturdy enough. however, i probably won't buy another delta again because of all the problems i've had with this supposed workhorse.

5 out of 5 stars What i needed   August 16, 2006

This is a GREAT cheap little drill press. I have two that i use in my main shop and we needed an extra on for on site work. It's small and easy to use. In the pastwe had used a Magnetic press however it was dificult and heavy. 99$ and this is a vast improvement.
