4 out of 5 stars Good Price-Just OK Quality   November 16, 2008
Jig works well. The tool arrived with several chips in finish. Overall a good value.

5 out of 5 stars Grizzly Tenoning Jig   September 21, 2008
I have now used this tool for the purpose for which I purchased it. It did an excellent job. I made multiple pieces with the same setup and it performed perfectly every time. High quality well made cast iron and steel parts can be expected to last a long time. The price was more than fair being the least expensive of several that I looked at before making my purchase.

2 out of 5 stars Base Not Flat   August 26, 2008
Received mine today. Discovered the base isn't even close to being flat. It wobbled back and forth on the top of my saw. Measured the gap under one corner and it was .030". That is huge for something that is only 8" on a side. I called Grizzly and a replacement base is on back order and won't be available for about 45 days.

I checked the other flat surfaces and they appear to be much flatter. I haven't checked whether the vertical support is parallel to the miter slot yet, but my first observations on how it is indexed doesn't give me great confidence since it only makes contact at one end of the slide rail. My fear is that it won't remain parallel when you reposition it.

5 out of 5 stars Grizzly does it again!   July 8, 2008
I've owned and used this tenoning jig for several years now. It's well made, accurate in use, and the best value among all tenoning jigs currently on the market. At this price I can't understand why any one would buy another brand.

4 out of 5 stars Mixed   July 1, 2008

Overall this is a reasonably good jig. Forget for a minute that it is basically the same as the D*l*a jig that costs nearly double (that's d*l*a's problem). This jig is a mix of good and fair. The machine parts are mostly good. Heavy cast steel and mostly milled well. Mostly.

I can almost, not quite, true the vertical to match my engineer's square. Almost - off by between 1/64 to 1/128 - visible, but nooot quite correctable. I've made jigs that were tighter tolerance.

Horizontal is true to my saw blade so solid good there. The locking knobs are definite minuses. They're a mix of machine screw and plastic, with the plastic part doing the hard work. I suspect at some point those die.

I had a few assembling problems. The head of the set screw used to help true the vertical plate was coated with some form of plastic crud that prevented the hex wrench from getting into the head. Had to take it all apart and clean it so I could complete truing. A couple of other minor problems.

The instructions are fairly clear. Clear pictures and mostly accurate descriptions. The operation of the major and minor adjustment screws could be a bit better explained, but overall it's pretty simple mechanically so it's not impossible to figure it out on your own.

Grizzly competes on price. Consistently it's identified with best value, not best quality. That's pretty much the case here as well.
