I spent several months using a previous version of the Jancy Slugger Cutter, and was fairly impressed with it, having no prior experience with magbase drill presses. The holesaw-style bits are incredibly effective, but expensive and have a fairly limited lifespan under heavy use. The centerfeed coolant reservoir is much more effective at cooling than manually squirting from a bottle, but the small reservoir required constant refilling.

One drawback of the previous model I used was the one-piece cast aluminum feed handle. I managed to break one of the handles off during routine use. The updated version seems to have steel handles that screw into the central hub, which is a major improvement.

The electromagnet circuitry failed after about 4 months, cause was never determined. Hopefully, that issue has been resolved in the 7 years since using this product.

While it was in new condition, it was a more effective drilling machine than the Jancy JM101 we ended up replacing it with, but ultimately less rugged.
