6148-64-1/2"" Magnum? Sander/GrinderThe 6148-6 Magnum? series 4-1/2 inch 8.5 amp grinder is ideal for getting into tight spaces where other grinders can not. Its low profile and light weight make it perfect for those medium duty sanding and grinding projects. An integrated lock-off button is featured in the paddle switch. A lock-on button is also available for continuous use operations. The tool is double insulated (two prong cord) and incorporates the industry standard 5/8-11 threaded arbor. Like its heavy duty big brothers, it also has spiral bevel gears for optimum transmission of torque to the work piece. The comfortable body grip style is easy to hold onto, and in conjunction with the supplied side handle, allows for maximum operator control. The side handle can be attached in three locations. The wheel guard can be moved around the spindle (without the use of tools) for greatest operator protection. Sold as a grinder with guard, this tool can be used as a sander when a 4-1/2 inch backing pad and disc are attached. Great grinder/sander August 15, 2008
Just got it yesterday and haven't had a chance to use it yet. I am impressed with the heft and weight of this tool. Solid, American made quality. Ultra-simple, user-friendly design. Every part of it looks like it's made to last forever. Buy one.

The Milwaukee 4 1/2" "Magnum" grinder model#6148 may just be one of the best hand grinders for the money available in the USA. This unit is rated at 8.5 amps and 1.6HP, that translates into some unusual power. I am a welder, I use a hand-held grinder quite a bit. I need a unit that will take stock down fast and smooth jagged cuts and welds with speed and flexablity. This unit fit the bill well and the price is fantastic. Only one other manufacturer makes a comparable unit but the price is a bit higher and the amperage rated a bit lower (but it's yellow!). If your needs are toward metal removal; this is the 4" grinder you'll be happy with.
