3 out of 5 stars paddle switches are better for safety   June 12, 2008

I am not a fan of the switch or the bulky grip of this tool. I have a dewalt grinder that I have had for 12 years and I prefer that grip. I had a nasty accident with a grinder once when I was just learning. I was not using a paddle switch and the thing kicked back right out of my hands and got wound up in my clothing and kept biting into my leg. I had to pull 50 ft of extention cord out of the wall before it would stop biting. If I were using a paddle switch the motor would have shut off when I lost the grip.

4 out of 5 stars Great Tool   June 2, 2008
Definetly not a tool for a novice, but it works great and with the appropriate blades cuts through tile and brick like it was butter.

5 out of 5 stars Bosch 1375A 4-1/2-Inch Angle Grinder   March 29, 2008
This unit does the job of any high priced unit. I recently added 2 small windows in a garage room conversion. I put the masonry wheel and had no problems perfect cut . My buddy was using a dewalt which cost quite a bit moore. We both did the same job no difference......

4 out of 5 stars Great tool, Great grinder   May 15, 2007

If you are a do-it-yourselfer, an angle grinder is a must-have tool and this one is so far of great quality and very reasonably priced. It fits very well in my hand and is quieter than some of the other ones I've used (but I still recommend protecting your hearing). It's one of those tools that you have no idea how useful it is until you use one for a job. You'll find yourself looking at a problem and then think, "hmmm...i wonder if my angle grinder would work on this", and sure enough it is the right tool for the job. There are a lot of useful attachments that you can get for an angle grinder because it doesn't only 'grind', and don't think that your electric drill with the same attachments can handle the job because it can't. You can use it to cut or grind metal, pipe, concrete, bricks, block, score up painted surfaces, remove rust, cut off/grind down nail heads, cutting/removing through old tile mastic on a floor, etc. For me two really useful attachments has been the inexpensive concrete diamond blade, and the DeWalt 3" knotted wire cup brush. The brush is really heavy duty and I have used it many times. I don't know why I never bought an angle grinder sooner. Before I owned a grinder, I needed to cut a trench in my home's concrete slab, so I rented this huge, wet, gas-powered diamond saw. Not only was the rental expensive, but it took a long time, made a huge mess, I still needed to break it out with a sledgehammer and it really didn't do that great a job. So when I had to start my next slab-cutting project, I used this little angle grinder with the diamond blade to score deep cuts in the slab and between that, and my percussion hammer, it was really a breeze, comparatively and took much less time. I would recommend wearing a dust mask for some jobs and always using a good set of hearing muffs to protect one's ears as well (don't just use cheap earplugs).

5 out of 5 stars Best Tool Ever   August 24, 2006

I bought one of these before taking on a tile project to help with those cuts I could not make on my wet saw. I decided on the Bosch over a DeWalt after reading the reviews. This little grinder is one of the best tools I have ever bought. It comes in handy all the time and cuts/grinds anything. I bought a DeWalt masonary blade and it devours brick, tile, stone, concrete you name it and it can cut it.

My only complaint is that its size (only 4.5") can make deep cuts a bit of a challenge due to the saftey guard but I have been able to work around it.

A must have.
