1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   August 5, 2008

I have owned the multimaster for a period just exceeding the warranty and was using it to undercut a door jamb to receive flooring. The tool blade pinched in the cut and broke the "lever" (part #410 in the head). I brought it to authorized repair center and was quoted $185.00 to repair it. The tool was in no way abused and used minimally for the time I owned it. The point I'm trying to make is that repair service for this product is not cheap and the tool should be considered disposable if something should happen to it out of warranty. It works great as a sander but is obviously under engineered for any serious consideration when applying it as a means to cut lumber. Buyer Beware!!!

Disappointed, Chicago

I am a finish carpenter of 25 years at Lake Tahoe Calif. & after trying several other detail tools this Fein tool beats them all hands down. If you are looking for smooth action, quality, & durability then look no more. If you just want a detail sander for the garage than the Bosch or Porter Cable might be the ticket but if you want to be using it 5 years from now then the Fein is definitely worth the extra money. Once you learn "when" to use it you will reach for it all the time. Great for flush cutting door trim to allow for new flooring, cutting in electrical boxes, sanding, & who knows what else. Replacement attachments are available right here at Amazon. "GREAT TOOL" Jerry Lowe.

5 out of 5 stars Pricey, but works.   December 3, 2007
I wish someone would make a knock-off of this thing. It works fine, but everything is way too expensive (blades, sandpaper, etc....)

This actually is about the only tool you can use for some jobs. Too bad it costs so much. I'd use it more, probably, if it, and the blades, were a little cheaper.

very versatile tool!! i bought it specifically to help with hardwood floor repairs but have found so many more uses. I only wish i found it years ago!!

4 out of 5 stars Great for electrical work   September 22, 2007

As an electrician, I have to cut out many rectangular holes for switches and receptacles. This tool is much easier and cleaner than the RotoZip I was using before. It is by far the greatest for use on plaster and lath. I cut the plaster with the grit blade and then cut the lath with the saw blade. Worth every penny.
