Improved die handle February 27, 2007
This is the best die handle I have used for up to 1/2 inch shafts.
It handles both round and hex dies, has micrometer style adjustable guide pins to help maintain alignment with the shaft to be threaded (most helpful for starting threads on rods without existing threads) and the short throw ratchet action is often critical for successful threading when adjacent projections prevent use of most conventional die handles.
The reversing toggle makes repeated back cutting of existing shavings fast and easy, essential before proceeding to cut more threads.
Although I usually prefer a ratchet T-handle for taps, the included adapters do provide added functionality for driving taps where additional torque and control are needed (especially when adjacent projections would limit use of some conventional tap handles).
For me, the included case was the final selling point. A well designed case significantly improves the long term value by helping prevent mislaying and losing expensive items. (From past experience, I avoid purchasing tool sets lacking well designed form fitted cases.)
