1" Jumbo Superflute Bowl Gouge. Superfluted gouges (pictured left) have a V-shaped gullet. Bowl gouges are ideal for shaping the ouside of vessels as well as removing material from the inside. Diamic Brand woodturning tools have been hand made by Henry Taylor craftsmen in Sheffield England for over 150 years. The manufacture of these tools marries traditional hand crafting skills with modern heat-treating and finishing technologies to give the quality of design and edge retaining properties demanded by turners today. The proprietary alloy of steel and trace metals used by Henry Taylor yields a high-speed steel unequaled by other manufacturers. The Cutting Edge carries only high-speed steel turning tools. Although they are slightly more expensive than carbon steel tools, the heat and abrasion resisting properties of this steel produces a superior, long-lasting edge. In addition, high-speed steel is extremely resistant to accidentally drawing the temper during grinding.
