| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description For the professional woodworker. The slightly squared special polypropylene handle gives a good, comfortable grip on this hard-wearing chisel. And there is less danger of the chisel twisting and slipping during use. Designed for use with mallet but can be struck occasionally with a hammer. Europe's most popular chisel. Bevel edge set includes 1/4-, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1-1/4 inch chisels in wood box.

Marples November 17, 2008 I realize that irwin and marples are the same company but what I thought I was getting was what is in the photo which are chisels stamped Marples not Irwin. They came in a box with the inside totally broken apart. I don't have enough time to go trough the hassle of returning them ect.,but it was not a good experience.
Not really Marples... April 4, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
...Uses the same steel as the original blue chip Marples. These have the Irwin name on the handle. A bit dissapointing seeing as how Irwin doesn't make the best tools. Good steel though, keeps a nice edge. Definitely need to true and sharpen these chisels before using them. Overall, good for the price, feel nice in the hands, just hope there as good as the original Marples. The originals used to be hand made in England. Not sure if these are handmade anymore.
They do all I ask of them. March 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this set a while ago and use them mainly for dovetail work. These chisels are definately holding up their end of the bargain. They are easily sharpened and hold an edge very well. I've used them in everything from pine to oak and only need to slightly hone them after the oak. Unlike the other reviewer, I think the handles are very solid and I see no evidence that I've used them as much as I have. I've had them awhile and was happy to see that the the "master" Frank Klausz thinks these are the best bang for the buck.
Could've been better January 17, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I received this chisel set in the mail, the wooden pieces inside the box had come unglued, so the chisels were loose in the wooden box. If the box had been made better or perhaps better prepared for shipping, I would've been happier with the purchase. Luckily, I was able to glue the pieces back in place successfully and the product is fine.
Great Workhorse Set, box or not January 3, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've been using these Marples "blue chip" chisels since my apprenticeship 25 yrs ago, still have most of the original set, using a newer set now. I'm a woodworker by trade and use them daily, beaten on them with a hammer regularly, no problems. As any one will tell you all edge tools need to be flattened and honed before use, NO edge tools are sharp enough for use straight out of the box, spend some time now, approx 30-45 mins each, and you'll have years of use from these work-horse chisels.
