Amazon.com Product Description The Howard Tools Shingle Shear Cutting Tool makes cutting all types of fiberglass and asphalt shingles fast, easy and accurate. Made of durable aluminum the lightweight shear weighs only 16 pounds, and is very easy to handle. The 20-inch blade makes cutting large shingles easy, and the slide-in scale makes this shear much smaller for easier storage and transport. An included inlaid tape measure and angle guide make straight cuts or valley and hip cuts quick and easy. A flip-up roof hook, and rubber feet allow the cutter be used on steep pitched roofs. Blades are easily sharpened, and low-cost replacement blades are available.

AWESOME TOOL January 27, 2008 I bought this tool and spare blade as I thought that one surely wouldn't be enough to cut an entire house worth of shingles. The house in work was a 2000sf ranch with a 2400sf two story addition added. Both roofs were all hips and had many running angles that required that lots of shingles be cut on angle. Rather than doing the old roofing way, since I had purchased high end roofing that offered up the three dimensional look and were three layerd in the middle, I opted to shear every shingle angle. Roofing contractors run them long and hand cut with a roofing knives at the angles, but the shear worked wonderfully and I like the precision of using the pitch gauge for professional results. I still have the extra blade still not needed yet, and we are planning to reroof the parents house in the spring. I look forward to using it again.(Although the roofing work is a bit of a chore, life was much easier with the shear)!
great labor saving tool December 7, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cutting laminate shingles can be challenging but this tool allows you to make clean cuts even in cooler conditions. It's light weight makes for easy handling on the roof and the built in measuring scale speeds things up. Our large do it your self job was way less painful with this tool and the reults were great! Well worth the investment.
Shingle Shear July 14, 2007 Awsome tool. I just did a roof that was all hips and valleys and this thing save a ton of work. Be sure to clean knife with thinner and then wax blade and deck. If no was armorall on deck worked great.
Time Saver May 7, 2007 This is worth the price. Lighter than the Qual-Craft lets you take it up on the roof with you (16lbs. versus 52lbs). You can make all your cuts on the roof. Cut my work time in half.
KICKS OUT SOME SHINGLES! October 21, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
JUST FINISHED OUR OWN HOME MY WIFE AND I AND WE CUT ALL OUR HEAVY ELK DOMAIN ASHFORD LANDSCAPE SHINGLES WITH THIS THING. GREAT TOOL. DOES THE JOB AND IS DEPENDABLE. CUTTING BY HAND JUST DON'T CUT IT. THIS TOOL ROCKS----AND SO WILL YOUR ROOFING JOB. AND REMEMBER NOW...DON'T STEP BACK TO ADMIRE YOUR WORK...UNTIL YOU'RE ON THE GROUND. HA
