Paladin universal crimp system - for HDTV Y/PR/PB links September 13, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you are doing an HDTV installation with a long run of Y-PR-PB connections, this is likely the connector and tool you will need to make the job work right (see the tool separately Paladin Tools 4915 Compression Crimp Bundle for the Smart Home A/V Kit)
The RCA connector is hard to do a proper compression crimp with because it has a protuding part of the plug that is gold plated. You must reverse the compression fitting in the tool to adapt to this part so that it can be crimped properly. Because the Paladin tool is universal you can do all cables (RG59, RG6, RG6 quad shield) and most common connectors, F, BNC, and RCA (this one). You do have to adjust the tool for each connector - but you only need to buy the one tool for every compression job which makes this a great value.
Good, But not the best August 29, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like the title says these are good RCA compression ends, My major complaint with them is that its hard to tell if you have them fully seated onto the cable as there is really no visual way to tell. You just have to sort of feel if the center pin is in all the way or not. The little rubber o ring color indicator things also fall off very easily so they are practically useless. These seem to make a good connection as well as I have not yet had one fail out of maybe 40 ends which is very good in my experience.
I would definetly buy these again but they are not as nice as the Liberty Cable ends I have also used which have a slot cut open in the connector to verify that they are fully seated.
