I wanted a powerful quality handheld vac for quick messes and touch ups. This vacuum fits the need very well. I have owned countless dust busters and have always been disappointed. There wasn't any other choices out there so I was stuck with it. Now I have a quality choice that actually sucks up what I point it at.
I read the other reviews and haven't ran out of power before I have finished the job. I don't plan on vacuuming the house. this is for quick clean ups of spills and accidents. I have my Dyson Animal to do the rest of the cleaning.
If you have kids, you have messes. You need this vacuum.
Great auxilary vacuum February 3, 2010

We've had two of these models, one for 4 years and another for 2 1/2. They have been great to pick up small areas, i.e. our son's highchair after eating crackers. Only now has one of the batteries begun to trouble us. A fifth star isn't awarded due to the cost of a replacement battery. But we wouldn't go back either.

I bought this handheld because of the Dyson name. This was the first and last Dyson I will every own. It is a piece of junk. Battery life from the beginning was no more than 6 minutes. Barely used it because of the lack of battery time and within one year it stopped working all together. Basically, after less than 20 uses and under two hours of total --the battery gave out. On top of that the suction power is nothing to brag about. I am much happier with a $30 handheld that lasts longer and has the same suction power. Don't waste your money.

The unit only last less than 3 mins on a full charge. And after a year the battery died and they want $75 for a new one

This is a great small vacuum and very lightweight. This was for my mother who can't lift much and she has had no problem with the item. You need to understand that this is a vacuum used just to pick up crumbs ecetera and not vacuum a large area of for a longer period.
