 SUPER cute June 18, 2008
This mobile is very cute. The four hanging animals (bird, butterfly, ?snail and turtle) have cute little smiles and the attachment has a kindly-looking caterpillar. The baby loves to look at all five characters, even when they are not moving. The selection of three piano songs and one nature sound is good--baby seems to like one more than the other three. I did not find the motor to be distractingly loud. My only critique is that the attachment piece is a little heavy, esp with 4C batteries in it, so I was initially worried about how securely it would attach to the crib, but it has not fallen off.
 good entertainment, not good for sleeping June 25, 2007
My husband found this and thought it would help our son fall alseep for naptime. Our son really enjoys looking at the bugs moving and enjoys the cricket sounds but I can honestly say, he has only actually fallen asleep once to it. The volume doesn't adjust like you would think, it's not a volume control. It's a high or low option only. The bugs fall off the hanging thing pretty easily too. I do like it, but I wouldn't buy it again.

We were first introduced to this product in the hospital when my 3 week old had to have surgery. We really like the songs, etc. So we bought it here on Amazon. We use it all the time and now my baby is 5 months old and has figured out how to turn in his crib so he can kick it on and change the toons. (Sometimes he even does it at 3 am). He is totally entertained with it. He also now turns it on in the morning, so we know when he wakes up and we can catch him before he starts calling for us.
Great mobile but a massive pain to install August 16, 2006

Our baby loved this mobile. The "wave" mechanism was a little noisy, but not unreasonably so. The baby would often pull at the dangling animals, but they were attached in a way that they would release easily - great for baby safety!
The choice of three songs and nature sounds is great, and the remote control to stop or restart the music comes in handy while nursing or rocking the baby to sleep.
The best feature of this mobile is that you can detach the mobile arms and keep the music box on the crib even after the baby outgrows the mobile. When our little guy wakes up, he lets us know by pushing the buttons and playing some music!
The reason I'm giving this mobile 4 stars instead of 5 is that this mobile is difficult to mount. It has a lip at the top of the back that is meant to "hook" over the edge of the crib, but it doesn't fit the edge of our crib. It is mounted with a plastic nut that screws onto a large plastic bolt that sticks from the back of the battery cover. It was hard to tighten and often slips down, which can be a safety concern once the baby starts pulling up.
Okay mobile, great music box March 1, 2006

My 6 week old baby will actually watch this mobile for a liitle while. I had no problem putting it on the crib. My only problem is it only plays for ten minutes and you have to be really close to use the remote.
Update-
We've now been using this mobile for a month and a half longer and my baby still likes it but the mobile has an awful clicking like the gears are missing.
Update-
My son is now 19 months old and this is still in his crib without the moving pieces. He loves it still to go to sleep but now he can turn the music on. Without the moving arms a door flips down to cover the holes and you can turn the internal mechanism off so just music plays. We tried taking it out of his crib cause the batteries were dead but he wouldn't sleep well till it was put back in.
