I bought this in the hopes that it would work well as a clip on craft light when I was doing needlework (I believe it's shown for that use on the Mighty Bright site). Unfortunately, it doesn't work.
The light is really too heavy to be clipped on an embroidery hoop. Also, the grips on the clip are weak and don't allow for really any manuevering of the light/arm to spot the area you're working on. The entire light slips around. And, well, the clip area is very large.
Also the light just isn't that bright (the lightbulb is a flashlight bulb). Even when used on a solid, lightish colored Aida cloth, there's not enough "oopmh" there to be much help.
Finally, I have some doubts about its durability. Granted, it's not an expensive little light, but it's one that has many moving parts and they're all plastic. Not sure how well it would hold up under heavy/extended use.
Maybe for use in some other capacity it will work well. But for a needleworker hoping to shed spotlight on cloth, it's just not very functional.
