4 out of 5 stars Grace is great   September 5, 2008
Great product. I have been wanting a internet wifi radio for quite some time. I decided to take a chance on the Grace radio. I am not disappointed. For one, the price is about half the cost of other well known product offering.

Huge selection of internet radio stations of varying genres; and if your favorite station is not included in the menu offering from the Reciva network; you can log into Reciva from your computer and add custom stations/streams yourself.

Also includes provisions for the Pandora music website as well...another cool feature.

If you enjoy radio other than just your local channels or XM/Sirrius, this is the way to go. No monthly sattelite fees.

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommend this gem!   August 31, 2008
I live on the islands, so it's indeed a pleasure to be able to pick up classical music and ad-free public radio stations that broadcast from all over the mainland. I've had this radio about a month now, and haven't begun to check out all the available stations. Sound quality is clear and pleasant, reception is steady while in any room in my two story home. I've listened to a couple other brands, they're ok, but Grace is the one for me.

3 out of 5 stars Great idea but work in progress   August 30, 2008
Grace Wifi Radio
The capability to hear thousands of stations worldwide is obviously very compelling. Of course you can hear the same stations from your PC too. However, packaging this technology in a small radio is what attracted me to this device. The radio has a lot of neat features. But almost all of them are work in progress. Let me elaborate on a few:

-Sound quality: When you attach the radio to your receiver through the available headset output to the receiver's Tape input source, you will quickly notice that the sound coming from your speakers is rather harsh. This problem is probably related to the underlying technology and stations, and is not necessarily a device problem. I have tried several popular stations and find the music either too boomy or too squeaky.
-Internet connection: You will need to have some technical skills to set up the device and take advantage of some of the neat features of the technology. I had problem with running the device in WPA security mode with my Dlink Di-624 router. The router works fine with my laptop. WPA is a mode that encrypts the wireless packets. If you don't use WPA, you will be surprised next time you log in to your on-line bank account. I had to switch to another router (an older LinkSys router) to be able to use the radio in WPA mode. But it took me more than a month to resolve the technical issues.
-Tech support: The technical support of the company is severely under-staffed. So, it is a challenge to get any quality technical support. So, be prepared to get help from your friendly IT if necessary.

Despite these shortcomings, I hope to see more demand for this technology so that perhaps a good competition results in better products.

4 out of 5 stars Happy with purchase   August 26, 2008
When I initially received my Grace Radio, it worked for 10 min. and then died. Nothing I could do would make it start again. I returned it to Amazon, which was a very easy experience. They paid return UPS postage, and I printed out a label to affix to the box from them. They immediately mailed my replacement before receiving the defective one. The new one works fine. No yucky stickers were on my radio. I had difficulty accessing my downloaded music from the computer on the Grace radio. It took me awhile to figure out, but my problem was I was running Norton 360 all-in-one security software, and under "my network" Norton had made the Grace's default security "default protected". Once I changed the trust level to "full trust", both Windows Media Player and Realplayer files were read by the Grace. I cannot use the Grace in my bedroom as it will not pick up my internet signal at that distance. I'm using a Linksys WRT 160N Ultra Range Plus router. When I tell people about the Grace radio, they always say they didn't know such a thing was available, and are kind of interested in it. Since we use this all the time, I'm thinking of getting the extended warranty just in case. I'm happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars This is the future of radio!   August 23, 2008

I can't say enough good things about this product. If you're looking a radio that will play any internet radio station in the world without a computer, this should be your choice. The setup is easy (even with an encrypted router), the audio quality is much better than one would expect, and the radio is very easy to use and navigate. I also like the display and all the information that is shown. If your favorite station isn't one of the 10,000+ already available in this radio, you can easily add it in via the reciva.com website, which just like the radio is very easy to navigate. Radiophiles will LOVE this WiFi radio!!

Only two negatives I think of: 1) There is no battery option. This unit must be plugged into the wall. 2) For whatever reason, the stickers attached to the radio are very difficult to remove. However, the positives far outweigh the negatives! You will NOT be disappointed with this unit!
