Too bad it's so noisy September 10, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I live in a cold and damp basement apartment, so the fact that it gives off heat isn't a bad thing. After 1 hour, water is already collecting, and I'm glad that I didn't choose a smaller option. This size fits comfortably into a corner, is small and unobtrusive.
The noise factor is a major problem. I can't use the phone in the room with it, have had to turn the tv up to deafening levels to drown it out, and won't be able to sleep with it on.
If I had to compare the noise, I'd say less than a vacuum, but more than a dishwasher. Similar to a washing machine.
Danby rattle trap June 30, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this dehumidifier based on the number one ranking of a similar model. This is the first year for this model. If you can't hear very well, then this one is for you. The case is all plastic and every square inch of it seems to rattle. The first one also decided it was full even though it wasn't. I believe this to be because it vibrates so badly it threw the sensor off. The second one was even worse at producing noise. I have since bought another brand and am very happy. Allergybegone was great for allowing returns and I would recommend buying from them, just not this model.
