The skates are a heavy, sturdy material with the old fashioned double runner. The red straps will go over a shoe or boot. The skate adjusts to fit. This product is for a young child. An older child, even if the skates fit, might be frustrated because they will not go fast. Great for around 3-4 to give skating a try. Don't expect any precision moves to be learned..these are for fun!
