Adapts the Fein Vacs to Festool Tools August 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Don't be oversold on the hyped superiority of Festool vacs for their tools. While they are excellent vacs (I own one in addition to a Fein Turbo II) with tons of features, strictly from a vacuuming standpoint they don't offer any better performance than the Fein - and that includes any supposed advantage of the Festool vac's variable speed.
The one use for which I prefer the Festool vac is for sanding. But that's because I have a Festool vac with a HEPA filter, and I do not have the HEPA filter for my Fein. There is also one really good reason to prefer the FEIN vac over Festool, and that's the cost of bags! Unlike sanding dust, chips from a tool like the Festool Domino will fill a bag in a hurry. Do yourself a favor and attach the Domino to your Fein instead!
This adapter can be trimmed to fit any Festool power tool and will store nicely in the Systainer. It is as flexible as the end of the Festool hose, so will adapt to either the round or oval dust outlets on Festool tools.
Buy It; You're Going to Need It December 12, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had the foresight to buy this adapter when I bought the Turbo II. Good move. Fein's 1 1/4" hose fits hardly anything, so you're going to have to adapt. This adapter is better than most - solid rubber without being too rigid. Stays where it is put. If you have a lot of tools, you might want to get a few.
Best Vacuum Adapter . . . Ever February 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Every other vacuum adapter I've tried doesn't "quite fit" the tools I'm trying to hook to my shop vac. The Fein Step Adaptor is made of a soft rubber that is not only stepped to reasonably useful sizes, but that also stretches to fit when the step you've cut it off at is just a tad small. Great gadget. The down side? Pricey!
Great adapter January 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The step adapter is a great convenience and money saver. It does not appear to be widely advertised or carried by stores, but it does mean that I do not have to spend $90 on the Fein stainless steel accessory kit. I can use my wands, brushes and accessories from my old shop vacuum. The stainless steel kit may be a good investment for a commercial shop, but my old plastic tools are just fine for my home shop.

I expected it to be a larger diamater, but it will work fine on my sander port. I must have missed the noted size when I ordered it.
