Amazon.com Review Bring out the scones--the Uplift teakettle covers all the bases when it comes to making tea. Its spout opens when the nonslip, heat-resistant handle is lifted, keeping fingers and hands far away from scalding steam. The removable lid is extra wide for easy refilling and simple cleaning. Its 2-quart capacity ensures that there'll be enough tea to go around, even if you're entertaining guests from the other side of the pond. Built of sturdy metal with an enamel finish, this kettle will last through many a teatime. The Good Grips line is recognized for its durable, nonslip, flexible handles. Ergonomically designed to fit the palm comfortably, the pressure-absorbing processed rubber handles put less tension on the hands while still providing an outstanding grip. Made from the same material as dishwasher gaskets, the handles are slip-proof when wet or dry. OXO recommends hand washing the Uplift teakettle. --Laurie Notaro
Product Description No need to flip any levers or touch the spout cover in any way thanks to the ingenious design of this kettle from OXO. Simply lifting the kettle up opens the spout cover automatically so you can pour easily and safely. The handle is made of neoprene to provide a secure and comfortable grip.

Expensive / poor quality September 17, 2008 Initially, I was put off by the cost, but figured it must be a quality kettle. Within a few months of owning the pot, the handle to the water reservoir broke. An end of the plastic handle pulled off the lid. No problem, I just screwed it back in. A month later it pulled out again. This time, I unscrewed to the handle to find that the screws were only held in by a metal collar embedded in the plastic. The metal collar somehow stripped and pulled out of the plastic. The handle was permanently broken. I pressed the handle and lid back on and started filling the kettle through the pour. The screws holding the handle on the lid started to rust.
I also found the pour handle clunky. If you don't hold it level, it will pop open unexpectedly and splash water out. Not a big problem for me, but my wife (who is petite) always had a problem holding the pot with one hand.
The pot is getting replaced. 50 dollar piece of garbage.
Great product August 4, 2008 I've been having this product for over a year now, and have not had any problems with it. I use this product in my kitchen everyday. All I have is Oxo in my kitchen and wouldn't settle for anything else.
Design flaw led to broken handle lid on two separate models May 27, 2008 My wife and I experienced the same problem that a few other people have mentioned, but I wanted to add that we even returned the kettle for a brand new one and it happened again. Surely this is a design flaw.
The lid forms a tight seal, and is actually difficult to remove. The handle on the lid broke off within the first month of usage. And we were even gentle with it the second time around.
Poor design and/or craftsmanship on this one. You have been warned.
Great product support April 22, 2008 I've owned the Oxo Uplift for several years and been generally happy with it. However, the whistle stopped functioning not long after I began using it. I tried to fix it with no luck. After a couple of years I decided to contact Oxo to get a replacement part- and I was willing to pay for it. Oxo replied to me within a day that their products are guaranteed and they promptly sent me a replacement new Uplift! That's great customer service that I wish was more common.
Nice but expensive April 21, 2008 I wanted a different looking kettle and this one is definetely different, bright color, cool design; love the automatic spout action, really practical, whistle works great BUT it's near impossible opening the kettle to fill with water without hurting one's hand really badly: that's poorly designed. all in all, great kettle but I was expecting just a lot more for that price.
