Amazon.com Review Easy Mediterranean style makes for a timelessly appealing table with Mikasa's Italian Countryside dinnerware. Crafted of naturally durable stoneware with an all-over creamy white glaze, this alluringly textured pattern is embellished with delicate fluting on wide borders and pretty scrollwork around the rims. The simple, generous shapes are substantial yet graceful with elegant details like a flared bowl rim and slender, arched mug handle. A lovely everyday pattern, Italian Countryside also lends a simple refinement to more formal gatherings. This 16-piece set includes four place settings, each with a 10-inch dinner plate, 8-inch salad plate, 6-inch cereal bowl, and a 7.2-ounce mug. Dishwasher- and microwave-safe. --Kara Karll What's in the Box 4 place settings. Each place setting consists of: 10-inch dinner plate; 8-inch salad plate; 6-inch cereal bowl; 7.2-ounce mug. 16 pieces total.

Love these dishes! August 14, 2008 These dishes really do make a beautiful table! I love them! The dinner plates are large. My husband likes the larger cereal bowl but I prefer to use one of the fruit bowls for my cereal. I did chip one of my dinner plates on my granite countertop because I wasn't being very careful.
Mikasa dinner set July 31, 2008 I bought 2 of these sets. The quality is great, although the mugs are a bit smaller than I would have liked. At least they are more useful than the tea cups sold with other sets! I had no problems with the packaging - the 2 sets arrived packed separately and there were no broken pieces. I am sure we will be using this set for a while.
Horrible packaging, but Amazon easy to work with... July 28, 2008 Purchased the 16-piece set to add to my current collection. True to the other reviews, I had two broken salad plates. They were completely smahed into several pieces. I called Amazon.com and they shipped another order out immediately. Now I just have to ship out the first order. A hassle and annoying? Absolutely, especially seeing as to how this is not an isolated case for this product. However, I'm very pleased with the actual purchase.
Great Dinnerware June 23, 2008 I purchased 3 sets of the 16 piece Mikasa Italian Countryside Dinnerware approx one month ago. These are beautiful dishes and I'm very pleased with them. The sets came packaged very well. There was only 1 bowl that was cracked. When I contacted Amazon Customer Service, I asked them to replace the broken bowl but they wanted me to return one full 16 piece set. I didn't see a good reason to send back 16 pieces for one bowl. They finally agreed to credit my account the cost of the bowl which was fine with me. The Italian Countryside can be purchased as individual pieces so I was able to replace the bowl very easily.
Chips easily-no support from Mikasa! April 29, 2008 I bought 16 place settings of this pattern to replace a Noritake set that I had for 15 years. The pattern is beautiful but within weeks many of my plates (dinner and salad) and bowls chipped (in 15 years only 1 Noritake plate and bowl chipped). I called Mikasa directly and they refused to do anything. They said there is no warranty for this pattern. Needless to say, I will never purchase anything Mikasa again.
