Square and geometric, with no cut designs at all and just a minimum of curve, these two crystal candlestick holders complement a clean, contemporary decor. Each stands eight inches high, rising from a three-inch-square base, with the central shaft one-inch square. The pair looks striking on a mantle or holding colorful tapers for a candlelit dinner. Care should be taken to avoid letting candles (not included) burn lower than one inch from the top of the crystal. Waterford and Marquis, two prestigious crystal companies, joined forces in 1991 to create a simpler, more modern design line for today's lifestyles. Crafted in Slovenia and handsomely gift-boxed, these fine crystal candleholders should be washed by hand in moderately hot water with detergent, then dried with a soft cloth to prevent spotting. --Ann Bieri
