Great for salad greens and fruit--stunned that many rate poorly December 5, 2008 I've had the bags for about a month now. I like to buy prewashed salad greens (just to make life easier), but the greens would get limp before I could finish a bag. Now I transfer them into the green bags--and they last 2 weeks. I do not close the bags tightly; I just put in the greens, and fold over. I have also used it to preserve melon halves. When we buy a honey dew or cantaloupe, half gets eaten right away but the other half would usually get wasted. I find that with the green bags the melon half stays good for 8-9 days. As others mentioned, I also wash and reuse the bags--no problem. I am stunned at the many negative reviews.
Really works on most fruits and veggies December 4, 2008 These really do keep foods from going bad! Especially useful for those of us that shop at a mega-mart and have no idea how "fresh" an item really is. Frequently, I find produce turns very fast sometimes, probably because it isn't that fresh to begin with. These bags save money and disappointment! I've had some trouble on a few foods, like tomatoes, where they seem to actually make mold come faster, and as the product says, they don't last forever. After about 20 washings, mine seem to be less effective (not that they need to be washed every use).
Great Product. December 4, 2008 Great product, ships quicly, great price but shipping is high. So you can buy them in the store for about the same price. No real deal.
worthless November 27, 2008 I bought these at the grocery store and put all of my veggies in them right away. I had heard that they worked if you kept wiping the moisture out of them. Everything I put in them (strawberries, lettuce, etc) ...rotten. The strawberries were literally bad the very next day. Save your money!
I love these Green Bags! November 25, 2008 I'm not sure what makes this bag a success for some and not for others. I've had a great experience with them. One thing that I learned is not to close the bag up tightly. Also, don't wash produce before slipping into the bags. I leave the ends mostly open and use them on the veggies and fruits that I refrigerate. They didn't work well for the tomatoes I left on the counter, but for everything else, they've extended the life by a week or two. I recommend them for all produce stored in the fridge and hold back one star because it didn't work for the tomatoes at room temperature. Well worth the money since I have washed and will reuse them many times.
