5 out of 5 stars Best Corkscrew on the market!   November 16, 2008

I absoulutely love this wine bottle opener! I own several other types of openers and I always reach for this one! (Even over the Rabbit, which I've had a couple of those break on me!) It is easy to use, great size for traveling and very affordable.

5 out of 5 stars Great product! Excellent corkscrew, no pulling is requried at all!!!   November 9, 2008
I am terrible at opening wine bottles as i seem to lack the skill that is required to use a traditional corkscrew, enter Screwpull Pocket Corkscrew! All one has to do is to turn clockwise and viola the cork is out without being damaged!! What a product! I'm very happy with it and will definitely recommend it to my friends and family!

4 out of 5 stars good, not as good as the original   November 1, 2008
I purchased the original version at the Museum of Modern Art in NY about 20 years ago and believe it really does deserve recognition as an exemplar of excellent design. I wanted to get a back up even though the original one is still pulling out corks as well as ever.

The current model differs in that the handle attaches at one end inside of in the middle. One might think that this would provide better torque, but added torque isn't needed because of the success of the overall design. Instead the offset handle creates more instability while turning it. On the other hand, the new version encloses the sharp point of the corkscrew better, which might be a benefit if one anticipates carrying it in a pocket.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite corkscrew   October 14, 2008
My previous Screwpull pocket model lasted 10+ years and I'm so pleased to find one just the same. I really missed it when I bought something else.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite corkscrew   October 2, 2008
Mine has been in use for nearly 10 years. Bought on a recommendation, I had my doubts, as the plastic felt flimsy and the worm looked too thin. I was certain it would break or pull through corks. Instead, it has turned out to be the best corkscrew I've ever used! Natural or composite corks, artificial corks, punky corks, plastic corks, stuck corks - it handles them all, easily and quickly, plus it's light, compact, and easy to store. I can't stress enough just how fast this corkscrew is - the only ones faster are the rabbit and countertop lever types. All it takes is a quick few twirls around with your finger through the loop of the handle. Done!

Its only shortcoming is that it's hard to use on flanged, or lipped bottles. The feet will spread to allow using it on such bottles, but you have to take care to get the worm going in straight, as the corkscrew isn't resting on its normal supports. I still keep a lever type corkscrew handy for the odd bottles the Screwpull won't handle.

My desire for a Laguiole corkscrew (specifically the La Forge-made Laguiole) has pretty much gone away as a result of the high utility of the Screwpull. Oh well, I may buy the Laguiole anyway - they're too beautiful to pass up!
