Decent Coffee Maker October 18, 2008
I've had this for a few months, use it daily, and recommend it as a good replacement for the typical Mr Coffee style glass carafe coffee maker. I usually make only 4 cups of coffee at a time and I've never found a decent smaller coffee maker for this. The standard 12 cup coffee makers don't seem to be made to make good coffee when only brewing a few cups, but this 12 cup Hamilton Beach has settings to compensate for brewing 4 cups or less and the settings actually work. The coffee is pretty good, it brews fairly quickly, and the advantage of having no carafe to break is a big plus for me. The coffee does not continue to "cook" and become bitter as it does in a conventional carafe style unit, so coming back for another cup in a few hours still gives you a decent cup of coffee. Not bad. I've had no problems with the unit or any of its features.
I've left off one star (actually should be 1/2 star) only because the water reservoir and filter basket are a bit difficult to clean---and they are most definitely not dishwasher friendly (the manual warns about this, but when you check out the kind of plastic used in this device you might suspect as much without reading the manual). The unit is rather large---14.5" tall and about 10" deep---so be sure you have the space for it in your kitchen. These issues don't detract much from the value of the unit in my opinion, but I would like to be able to put the removable parts in the dishwasher once in awhile.
Overall I recommend this coffee maker.

This coffee brew station makes the best and hottest of any coffee maker I have used, and it keeps it hot for the 2 hours. I love the convenience of not dealing with a coffee pot.

This product lived up to its advertising. It is relatively easy to use, and brews coffee rapidly. It takes awhile to get used to serving without the carafe, but really has no disadvantage that I can see. Most of us want only one or two cups at a time, so serving someone at the table is not awkward. And for iced coffee, it's perfect.

This product does what it promises - it is easy to program and delivers a good cup of coffee. I like the 1-4 cup feature.
I gave it a 4 because it is larger than I expected - takes a lot of counter space, and you can't put it under a cabinet because it steams. Coffee is not very hot when first brewed, but gets hotter if you let it sit for about 20 minutes.
Great Coffeemaker August 18, 2008
After reading some of the reviews I was a little skeptical, I made sure that I read all the bad with the good. One did say they tightened some screws and had no more problems with it. When I first recieved mine I made sure everything was tight, then I used it. I have been using it for about 2 months now and all I can say is that I couldn't be happier with the coffee it makes. The coffee is hot, and the taste is great. I really love the fact that it doesn't have a glass pot, and that it does have a water filter, don't like my water. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT COFFEEMAKER!!!!!!
