2 out of 5 stars Water tastes and smells of plastic   June 3, 2008
Water boiled in this tasted and smelt of plastic. I boiled and rinsed out the kettle numerous times. I brought it back after a week. I couldn't stop thinking about my health and yes I tend to drink a lot of tea, so I do notice it.

3 out of 5 stars Nice Kettle but bad smell and taste   February 21, 2008

I have used an electric kettle for 11 years with no problems. Bought this one and after following the directions to boil then dump the water and start again for several times I could not remove the smell and terrible taste of the plastic. As an avid tea drinker this was a big disappointment.

2 out of 5 stars inexpensive, but poor quality   February 8, 2008

After several months of use, there is still a scent of hot plastic from it when used to heat water. I think it leeches into the water too, at least giving it a bit of a plastic odor.
The other problem I have with it is doesn't automatically switch off when you life the kettle from its cradle. This is a problem because if you empty the kettle and put it back on its cradle, you'll have a problem.
I would avoid this product. Pay a little more and get a metal one if you can.

5 out of 5 stars Pleased customer!!   January 14, 2008

I bought my kettle over a year ago and love it. There have been no problems with bad odors or tastes. Currently purchasing a second one to have at work. I use mine at home 1 to 3 times a day. No complaint or regrets.

4 out of 5 stars Good for the price   February 16, 2007

Pros: cheep and works well.

CONS: Lid is hard to close, most of the time I do not close it at all. After water boils, it keeps boiling for some time, waste of energy. But neither is much of an inconvenience.
