Product Description Through his restaurants, cookbooks, products and television shows, Mario Batali breathes the spirit of the Old World into modern day America and shows us how to revel in the inherent joys of daily life.A multi-purpose pot is a must in an home chef's kitchen, especially this wonderful 6-qt. Italian Essentials Pot by Mario Batali. Shown here in Persimmon, this pot is constructed from durable enameled cast iron with cast stainless lid knobs. Its size is large enough to accommodate everything from pastas and seafood soups to roasts and even small poultry! The durable porcelain enamel finish on the interior and exterior makes this pot extremely easy and convenient to clean. Self-basting spikes are featured on the interior of the lid, which ensures constant natural basting to secure delicious taste and flavor in the food! Excellent heat retention allows this pot to go straight from oven to tabletop and this is also safe for gas, electric and ceramic-top ranges ( always lift pan across range, do not slide). Weighs approx. 15-lbs.

Chiped and Stained September 27, 2008 As much as I love cooking in this pot and just looking at it because it is really beautiful, the first time I used it the handle chipped even though it was handled carefully. The second time I used it, I made a lentil soup and the bottom of the pot discolored. It did not burn and I used a low flame but it still discolored. I have used Le Creuset Dutch ovens for years with absolutely no problem. I don't think I will purchase any more Mario Batalia Dutch ovens since they seem to be inferior. I am very disappointed because it is really a beautiful looking pot, especially in the Chianti color. Emileen Hanna
nekekark August 12, 2008 This dutch oven was purchased as a gift. It was highly successful. Both gift-giver and recipient were pleased. Braised shortribs were prepared shortly thereafter, adding further pleasure. The product came as described with no imperfections. Packaging was quite adequate.
Batali Cast Iron Pot July 29, 2008 I was eager to order this pot because it was an enameled cast iron dutch oven which I did not have. I am sadly disappointed with this product because the enamel has discolored and food sticks to it badly. I don't expect it to perform as a non-stick pan, but after chicken has browned in it it's suppose to release after developing a crust. No such luck. I feel I should have saved my money and paid a little more for a Le Creuset. I used to have one and did not experience the same problems I have with the Batali pot. I would not recommend this pot to anyone of my friends.
Great Roasting Pot, too! July 24, 2008 This pot is great for stews, braising and for no-knead bread, but it's also great for roasting dishes, too. A 10.25 inch round cake rack works as a roasting rack and fits inside to keep your chicken from sitting in it's own grease. The basting tips in the lid keep the juices in. You'll love this pot...it's so stylish and easy to clean. I use the Mario Batali 4 quart just as often. Yes, I also have many LeCreuset pieces, but I think the MB pieces were well designed not to compete too much with LeCreuset.
