great dutch oven September 2, 2008 following reviews that said this was alton brown's recommendation, I bought this dutch oven. I have used it a dozen times in the last 2 months. Came seasoned. So heavy and think and well constructed. Would recommend it to anyone looking.
Lodge Logic 7-Quart Dutch Oven with Spiral Handle Bail and Iron Cover August 24, 2008 Excellent product. Good quality and well seasoned. I use it as often as I can.
Lodge Logic 7 Quart Dutch Oven August 23, 2008 While watching an episode of "America's Test Kitchen", they demonstrated how to deep fry food the best way and using a cast iron dutch oven was highly recommended. When shopping for one online, I wanted to buy the best cast iron dutch oven so that I will never have to replace it and the Lodge products were rated the best. It retains the high heat needed to deep fry and does such a great job at deep frying anything from fish to onion rings. It's much more economical and reliable than an electric deep fryer. As with all cast iron products, this dutch oven doesn't have to be washed and that makes clean up so much easier. You just have to drain all of the oil out of the dutch oven and insert a folded paper towel in between the dutch oven and the lid to keep it aired out properly. This is the first cast iron product I have ever bought or owned and I absolutely love it!
Cast Iron Dutch oven August 19, 2008 heavy, the preseasoned part is a joke, the pan rusted after the first use, just have to continue to season the pot.
Good Value July 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pros: No non-stick, easy to clean, can cook just about anything it it. It was less expensive than I could find anywhere else by about $20 and it came with free shipping. You can use to cook in kitchen and camping.
Cons: It's quite heavy (duh--it's cast iron) and I'm a pretty strong male.
I wanted something I could use for both in the kitchen and camping. I think if I was just looking for something in the kitchen, I would have goon with stainless steel. Of course you pay a lot more for good stainless steel.
