Amazon.com Review This fondue set conveys rustic conviviality and industrial ruggedness. Made of heavyweight aluminum that's been anodized for hardness and stick-resistance, the charcoal gray, matte-finish pot holds and warms melted cheese or chocolate, broth, and oil fondues. Its jaunty handles, splatter guard, and stand are polished stainless steel. The set's six stainless-steel forks step down in length from 10-1/2 inches to 10-1/4 inches, and their stay-cool plastic handles are molded to depict a fish, a lamb, a pig, a steer, a lobster, and a duck. Notches in the splatter guard hold each fork in place. Two chrome-plated handles provide safety when you're lifting the pot from stovetop to stand. (Fondues must begin on the stove, because burner fuel isn't hot enough to heat oil or broth fondues to the proper starting temperatures.) The pot holds about 5 cups of broth or 2 cups of oil. The pot and stand are 8-1/2 inches high. --Fred Brack

Help! No instructions and I can't start it! September 9, 2003 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great fondue set, given to me as a gift. But unfortunately it did not come with instructions and I don't know how to start it. Anyone have any clues?
it is a great buy... September 1, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Calphalon Fondue set is very compact and is one of the best fondue cooker's that I have used. The only complaint that I could think of is it does not have a double-deep tray to cook chocolate through boiled water. It just means that you have to pay more attention. The set is small, and the price is up there. Over-all, it is worth the price, with how quick it cleans, and how easy it is to handle.
Hard to keep lit and very hard to clean January 1, 2003 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
Got this as a gift. Getting the burner started was hard as the wire mesh wasn't all the way down on the bottom, and it's still not easy and usually requires a number of retries. Once lit, the fuel capacity is way too small - when you have a meat fondue, you have to refill about three times while you're eating. Cleaning out the remains of a cheese fondue is extremely hard, takes at least 15 minutes. It may be anodized, but it sure is not non-stick. The stand and burner started rusting, after four months.
No instructions January 15, 2002 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
While the Calphalon Fondue Set looks like it will be fun to use, I haven't been able to start yet because the set does not come with any instructions. Unlike Calphalon's other products, the alcohol burner's use is not intuitive. The summary on the Amazon page is the most information I have been able to find regarding this product(i.e...get fondues started on the stove top). I have tried to contact Calphalon 4 times (both e-mail and phone) for instructions and have not received any reply.
The best Fondue January 24, 2001 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
This is the best fondue set that I have used to date. The clean up is easy. The pot heats evenly and quickly due to the aluminum. There is a life time warranty. The only downside was I wish the unit came with more forks.
