Product Description
You can get the fondue bubbling on the stove and then move it to its stand to keep warm while you and your guests dunk and dip. Cast iron retains heat far longer than many other materials, which suits fondue cooking just fine. This fondue will not only work for dessert and cheese fondues, but also for cooking meat, poultry, and seafood in hot oil or broth.

Amazon.com Review
Because cast iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention, and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, this 2-quart, enameled, cast-iron fondue pot is ideal for gently heating and then keeping warm any type of fondue, including oil, broth, cheese, and chocolate. The blue pot goes safely on any stovetop, including induction stoves, to bring a fondue to the proper temperature before the pot is placed on the charcoal-gray, cast-iron stand, where it can be kept warm by a stainless-steel burner using either alcohol or paste fuels. For easy cleanup, the pot is dishwasher-safe, as are the six color-coded, stainless-steel forks accompanying the pot. The forks fit into indentations in the pot's rim, around which runs a line of the cast iron beneath the creamy enamel coating the pot's interior--adding to the rustic pot's charm. The heavy stand provides plenty of stability for the equally heavy pot and helps conduct heat.

The pot is also useful for serving warm dips like bagna cauda in a buffet spread. Ideas like that and lots of fondue suggestions--butterscotch fondue!--are included in the recipe booklet Le Creuset sends with the pot. Stand and pot measure 8-1/2 inches high, and the stand is 8-1/4 inches in diameter. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron cookware, the pot carries a lifetime warranty against defects and is made in France using a one-of-a-kind mold that ensures each piece's uniqueness. --Fred Brack

5 out of 5 stars Simple Fondue   November 9, 2006
Fondue is back. No longer passe, fondue is one way to get the kids around the table for dinner. Me and my family enjoyed out first outing with the Le Creuset fondue set. It was easy to use and the kids helped in the whole process. This is truly an incredible bonding tool!

5 out of 5 stars Great Fondue Set   September 21, 2006

I agree with the previous reviewer that stand is incorrectly displayed in the photo. Other than that, this is a great product! The enameled cast-iron pot is nice and heavy, and the charcoal-gray cast-iron stand is well-made. I have tried cheese and chocolate fondues with the set, both worked really well. the cast-iron fondue pot heats gently and evenly. The thick cast-iron wall helps keeping the sauce warm for a long time! Great set for entertaining and holidays.

5 out of 5 stars The photo is wrong   August 9, 2006

I just purchased the fondue set. I haven't used it yet, but it seems very well made and should work well. It should be noted that the stand is incorrectly displayed in the photo. The flat disk part of the stand should be on the table, not supporting the pot. That is how it's displayed on the packaging. Further, when set up correctly, there is a area within the stand to support the burner. To use the pot as displayed in the photo seems to be rather dangerous. Hopefully the other reviewer has realized this by now.
