Product Description 10-1/2" Round Cast Iron Griddle With Deep Lip.
Amazon.com Review Lodge has been making cast-iron cookware for over 100 years, and thanks to cast iron's excellent durability, some of the original pans are probably still around. It's not hard to see why cast-iron pans are the ones most often passed down from generation to generation--nothing can dent, warp, or bend their heavy construction. This 9-inch griddle pan will meet all grilling needs without any decrease in quality as it ages. In fact, unlike many cooking surfaces, cast iron becomes more stick-resistant with use. Cast iron also has excellent heat retention, so dishes don't need to be cooked over extremely high temperatures. If you're concerned about nutrition, cast iron has been proven to safely add iron to food. Because iron can rust, this pan should not be immersed in water for long periods and should stay out of the dishwasher. Just wash it with soap and water, avoiding abrasive cleaners. --Laura Cuthbert

Works like a dream January 3, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I first saw this griddle at a friend's house. We used it to make crepes, and the results were absolutely perfect. Subsequently I've been using mine to grill panini, brown chicken breasts until golden, slowly sizzle perfect salmon filets, and turn out beautifully done steaks and chops. It even works well in the oven to finish cooking a beef or pork tenderloin. Note, I am a serious cast-iron cookware devotee, and I like utensils and tools that are multi-taskers. This griddle fits that bill and stays busy on my stove. Perfect for one person or a couple.

I give the product a 5 but the packaging by amazon a 1...why would anyone put an iron pan in a box next to cd's???? The CD cases are plastic and unprotected.
Cooks well and looks crude April 2, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have got to tell you two things up front. First the Amazon.com delivery was very quick. The griddle arrived two days after my purchase. Second, the cooking surface of the griddle was surprisingly rough and pitted, although the exterior bottom had a nicely textured finish. I cannot understand why Lodge uses such a crude finish for its cooking surfaces.
Despite the crude appearance of the cooking surface, I followed the recommended seasoning procedure several times, and the griddle changed from gray to a very dark brown. The feel of cooking surface changed from being something resembling rough sandpaper to being something resembling rough-textured Teflon. It became quite slippery and virtually non-stick, despite having a very bumpy appearance.
This griddle will never win a beauty contest, but it cooks very well. In fact, I doubt that any reader of this review will ever find a griddle that cooks better than this one. However, there are many griddles that look prettier.
Nice Pan March 20, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nice cast iron pan. Less wieght without the sides. Nice for flat pan grilling. Works great, ships fast.
OK but... February 28, 2006 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
It is all right where cast iron products are concerned. The only disadvantage is that as it is in original finish, we need to heat it in the oven. My oven is so small. It can't fit. So, I cannot use it yet. In future, I will only buy seasoned cast iron products. I like Lodge products though.
