Amazon.com Review There are lots of fancy cookware materials out there but cast iron still trumps them all with its even heating, heat retention, price, and duration. It's these traits that make Lodge cookware favored by both indoor chefs and campfire cooks alike. The caveat is cast-iron cookware's weight and, at 10 pounds, this griddle will give most chefs a workout. At 9-1/2 by 17-1/2 inches, this griddle is long enough to cover two burners of a stove. The flat side of this reversible griddle is ideal for pancakes, eggs, or grilled sandwiches while the opposite ribbed side works for bacon, chicken, a whole fish, or any foods with fatty drippings. While it usually takes years of cooking to burn on the prized finish that makes cast-iron cookware smooth and stick-free, the Logic line of cookware comes preseasoned to save you some work. Cast-iron pans in this line are coated in a vegetable oil, which is then baked on in an hot industrial oven to obtain that blackened patina and silky surface. --Cristina Vaamonde
Product Description Lodge Logic is electrostatically coated with a proprietary vegetable oil and cured at high temperatures to allow the oil to deeply penetrate the surface of the cast iron. Natural sand mold surface is ideal for our new, seasoned, ready to use finish. Sturd

Griddle to Go October 23, 2008 I use this on top of my BBQ grading- AMAZING results. Try it with fish, chicken, beef, seals in the flavor and juices-I love it.
great griddle January 24, 2008 Super unit. Pre-seasoned and works right out of the box. It is not flimsy like some that I have returned. Both sides work as they are advertised to work.
The only negative for me is that I would like to have about 1 1/2 inches more width.
IRON GRIDDLE August 25, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
THIS GRIDDLE IS GREAT, I USE IT MOST OF THE TIME. IT LEAVES THE GRILL MARKING AND TASTE.

Lodge is the leader in cast-iron cookware. Made in USA for more than 100 years, it's heavy, reliable, great stuff. Cast iron takes a little effort. You have a relationship with it, unlike teflon type pans. You learn to work with it and it will reward you with incredible performance.
I've had the non-preseasoned version of this griddle for about ten years. At first I was disappointed in the performance but over time it got better and better. Nothing sticks to it now. Cleanup is easy with just a quick wipe needed. The cast iron is so good at spreading the heat out that it has very even temperature.
Pre-seasoned is a bit of a misnomer. The "seasoning" process is never complete- Lodge Logic has simply jump started the process. It does get better and better. At first maybe only use it with an oil or with fatty foods. As time goes by the need for added oil goes down. I can make pancakes or french toast with no oil or butter. I generally give it a light spray of cooking spray though.
My only complaints are that with the grease gutter the total cooking area is somewhat small, plus pancakes will flow into the gutter if you aren't careful. I never use the grill side but from experience with my Lodge grill pan I'm sure it would do a great job.
I'm sure that this griddle will just keep getting better and better as the years go by. I can't say that for coated nonstick cookware- that seems to have a life of about five years in my family.
Note that your burner spacing is important. This size has a cooking area (not including the grease gutter or handles) of 16-3/4" x 7-3/4". The overall size is about 21" x 9". It fits the stove in my camper and my Weber Gas Go-Anywhere Grill perfectly. It does not fit my stove at home or my Coleman propane stove because those burners are spaced 11" apart. For those stoves I am considering getting the larger Lodge griddle where the handles are inset. All the Lodge products are listed on the "lodgemfg" homepage. Since cast iron is heavy, shipping can be expensive so be sure you get free SuperSaver shipping.
smallish surface space-uneven heat October 10, 2005 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
The logic griddle did two things I wanted--put grill marks on my food and didn't stick. However, the surface was not as large as I had hoped for in a griddle that spans two burners. Two good sized pancakes don't really fit across it, and if you use the entire surface, the items in the middle between the burners don't get as much heat and cook unevenly. I have taken this griddle to Vermont and used it on a gas range, as well as on my smooth-top electric range at home. It works about the same on both. I was able to make professional looking panini sandwiches with nice grill marks and no sticking. My pancakes cooked unevenly and had to be watched very vigilantly. I gave the griddle 3 stars because it is preseasoned and food did not stick and it basically does what is says it does, although my expectations led me to hope for more.
