I purchased two other grill pans prior to this one. Unfortunately, I gave too much credence to some of the other reviewers of this product here. I am happy to say that I love this pan. I have not had any of the problems mentioned. I washed the pan before I used it, so I must have washed the odor away since I didn't notice one even the first time I grilled with it. It did heat up fairly quickly; but that is a plus! I certainly didn't find huge amounts of debris or grease on my stovetop; but then again I've learned how to cook and regulate heat. I wish I had ordered this pan in the first place and saved myself all the hassle. (Of course, I have a couple of friends who are happy that I followed the alternate route, since they are now owners of new grill pans that I didn't like.) Buy this pan; it's great and the included press is fantastic! It exactly fits the interior of the pan which makes it all the more difficult for any mess to cover the stovetop. Oh yes, I think I know how these people got messy stovetops. They must have lifted the press and held it high over their head while turning the contents of the pan. That would explain it. In other words, you do want to keep a paper towel on the counter and lay the press down on it while turning the meat. Since it has been laying on top of the contents of the pan, it would naturally have some liquid on it.

I love this grill press!! It's great for meats, veggies, sandwiches, etc.. and the best part is it's really easy to clean (that's coming from a person who hates doing dishes)! My old cookware everything would stick and I would have to use oils to prevent that, now I've cut out all the butter and oils by using this press. I highly recommend it, it's a must have for someone who likes healthy, easy cooking!

I have had this for about a month and I have been using it everyday. The first time I used it it had an oder but it was gone after that first use. I make sandwiches and grill on it. I grill chicken breast, burgers and tilapia and they come out really moist (I always drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil on my chicken breast and fish when I season them). I am very happy and satisfied with my grill pan and press!

I have wanted a grill pan FOREVER!! I saw this great deal and knew I needed to buy it!! I bet we have used it at least 3 times a week since we got it! It makes the best grilled sandwiches!!

I haven't experienced either of the issues expressed here, so that's good. I have found that this pan gets very hot very quickly, so you should have your food ready and watch it somewhat closely...all in all, I'm happy enough with this pan that I'm purchasing a whole calphalon hard anodized set.
