An alternative to a countertop knife block, this wood tray stores 12 knives and a sharpening steel in a drawer where they are conveniently at hand and their blades are protected from nicks. The tray is cleverly designed in two levels so all handles point in the same direction. The top level holds six knives with blades up to 5 inches and can also be used to store steak knives. The bottom level holds blades up to 10 inches long. The sharpener slot is large enough for a 10-inch tool. Fabulous October 30, 2008
Not available in the UK, you guys don't know how lucky you are. There are no in drawer knife holders here, so I bought one from Amazon USA and had it shipped over and the total cost after shipping and import tax was 3 x more. But it's a great piece of kit and I am happy with it.

Does a great job storing knifes, so there out of the way, but can easily be accessed and returned to the tray. The top rack holds smaller knifes, up to 5" in length. The bottom tray is for knifes up to 10" in length and I can personally verify that a true 10 chef's knife fits without any problems.
If you're into a couple of major slice and dice projects, the tray can easily be removed from the drawer you use to store it in and put on the countertop, so all of your knifes are right in front of you.
All in all a very handy and attractive solution for storing all kinds of knifes.

When you have a good set of knives, you need a good storage system to keep them from banging around against each other. This tray has plenty of places for our knives and fits perfectly in the drawer. A wise investment.

Just as good as the previous reviews. I was able to get rid of the knife block and all my knives now are in one place. No more fear of inadvertently cutting myself when looking for the correct knife.
Great alternative to a knife block! June 12, 2008
I recently moved to an urban setting with a much smaller kitchen than I'm used to, and was looking for ways to downsize my counter space usage. This knife tray was a perfect solution! Well-designed to hold my Henckels Pro-S set efficiently, and fits very well in a drawer.
I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get things off their countertop.
