This knife block set carries a useful assortment of standard knives for outfitting a kitchen. The set includes an 8-inch chef's knife, a 5-inch serrated utility knife, a 4-inch paring knife, and a 2-1/2-inch peeling knife, as well as a sharpening steel and a pair of shears. All components fit within an 11-slot hardwood block, which offers four extra slots for future knife acquisitions. Part of Henckels's Twin Signature of knives, the cutlery in this set have high-carbon, stainless-steel blades that have been stamped from one piece of metal. The edge is cut by laser for a more consistent angle on the blade and hand-honed for sharpness. Blades have also undergone Henckels's Friodur ice-hardening process, which further strengthens them and protects them from discoloration. The ergonomically designed traditional-style polymer handles are securely fastened to the balanced full tangs with three rivets. Handles seamlessly encase the tangs on these knives so no food particles can ever become trapped in a gap.  The knives rust November 1, 2008
I like the knife set in general. However half the knives have rusted and I have to throw them away. I only recently bought this knife 3 months ago.

My first Henkels' purchase was a "one-man" and it was cheap in price and quality. It was so heavy, my mom couldn't use it. I returned that one right away, and found the Twin Signature.
I loved it right away! The handle is the best part because it fits very well for a good grip and it doesn't feel heavy. The knives are sharp and I use the scissors all the time for everything! Everyone that comes by my house comments on how they like the knives after using them. For a little more money, buy the "two-man" Henkel--it's worth it.

The Twin Signature is the lower end of Henckels more professional brand. The knives are sleek, very sharp. Great Value for great price (when on sale).
FANTASTIC ITEM January 19, 2008
I have to say, I was a little skeptical about buying expensive knives after always shopping at walmart for this type of thing. I actually bought them for my husband for Christmas because he loves to cook. My first cut Christmas day was a tomato and I am now a TRUE BELIEVER! These knives are perfect! I will be adding to the set! My favorite is the paring knive, at first the slightly curved blade threw me off, but with the balanced handle and the curved blade I have no slippage issues with the fruits or veggies as I cut! I never realized how much more effort I exerted using bad knives, now it takes very little effort to cut and peel items for dinner and snacks, I have especially noticed a difference with potatoes and apples. The handles are fantastic with the curved hand grip, it fits extremely small hands like mine but it fits my husbands large hands perfectly also. Amazing knives, I definitely would recomend them to anyone. I had just bought a set of santoku knives by a famous chef 2 weeks before Christmas and have not touched them since!

All in all, a great set of home-use knives. It's not pro-level quality, but you're not paying hundreds of dollars either. For the price and if you're just looking for a nice set of brand-name knives for daily use...I would highly recommend these. My visitors who know enough about knives to recognize the brand thinks they are 'really really' expensive knives...so a good way to show off with out paying a lot.
