Outstanding Electric Kettle! November 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After a recent trip to the Channel Islands where my husband and I enjoyed having tea in our room using an electric kettle, we decided we needed to have one at home. After reviewing a number of those listed on Amazon and reading the reviews, we chose this Sunbeam kettle and are very pleased we did. It is a sleek-looking kettle that quickly heats water to the boiling point then automatically shuts off. We very much like the heating element, a round metal plate almost covering the bottom of the kettle. It's much better than the typical coils we saw overseas. Mentioned in one of the other reviews is the "short" cord of the kettle. It's definitely not a problem -- it's about 2 1/2 feet long, so it's plenty long enough to leave plugged in and pour from the kettle. However there's no need to leave the kettle plugged in once the water heats and the kettle shuts off. Just unplug it! We highly recommend this kettle.
Almost perfect. October 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The water heats up great and doesn't take too long I just wished I had gotten one that was cordless. You see when you want to put more water in you have to unplug it and then move it over under the water faucet. This is difficult because the pot is so tall that when you try to put it under the faucet it barely squeezes in the space and the bottom touches the dirty sink. I suppose I could use a separate pitcher to pour into the water heater as apposed to using the sink directly but that's another step. I know they make the cordless kind but I accidentally didn't think about it when the order was placed.
Great Tea Kettle February 25, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I moved to the States from Canada and was horrified to see how few electric kettles there are available in stores. The one I had back home is quite old so I left it there thinking I'll just run out to the store & buy one. WRONG! Most stores only carry a couple & they're over $40! And Macy's had one that was just plain weird!
Anyhoo, I found this one and ordered it. Sunbeam is a good popular brand in Canada so I felt confident in purchasing it. It is GREAT! It doesn't have the heating coils in the bottom which is good. The coils can build up mineral deposits over time. It just has a flat metal heating element at the bottom. It is quiet and you can see the water inside boiling away. And the auto-shut off is wonderful. I'm quite pleased with my purchase. Now, if I could order some good Canadian tea from here...
Does the Job! October 23, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love this kettle. I bought it for my dorm room to heat water for tea, easy mac, oatmeal etc. It heats the water very fast and shuts off when it is done. It even melts ice incredibly fast. The only downside to this product is how the cord is attached to the kettle so it kind of gets in the way when pouring, just make sure you unplug it from the wall.

Electric Kettle - It works great! A little noisy, but heats the water quickly. No anoying whistle-- it just shuts off when it is hot enough.
